The 8 spelling activities:

‘Get Spelling’ homework• At the end of each unit (not weekly), children look
through their workbooks and choose 5 words they find the most difficult to spell.
• They write these in their logbooks.• They also choose 2/3 red words to practise and 3
words from a previous unit.• New this year 1 or 2 of the first 100 words if
this is required• Each week, the log book is taken home as homework-
some weeks may be re-visiting the same rule!.• Parents initial every time a word is spelt correctly by
the child at home.
• NO GENERIC SPELLING TEST- PERSONALISED LEARNING TARGETED AT THE NEEDS OF EACH CHILD!
Spelling Jotter (small red books)To be used for spelling activities 6 and 7.
Spelling log booksTo be used for spelling activity 8 and homework!

Get Spelling workbooks!All children to complete spelling activities in workbooks.
NO PLANNING REQUIRED!!!However…… Please review units you have already taught. Assess the children with words from that unit and if they haven’t got it, add more teaching in!
