I’m Stuart Murphy and welcome to English National Opera.

X2 12 week contracts

Salary:

£31,528.64 (pro rata per annum)

Location:London Coliseum, St Martin’s Lane, London, WC2N 4ES

Working Hours:44 hours per week (up to 60 hours, subject to scheduling)

Reports to Show Team Manager / Stage Carpenter

Purpose To ensure that all aspects of the stage department practice are supported to the highest possible standards.

Key Accountabilities

• Assist the production carpenters with the fit-up and build of all scenic items.• Participate in the full range of Showman duties when required, including setting and striking of scenery on stage, setting and striking

prop items and participating in scene changes.• Loading /unloading scenic equipment in order to assist with the efficient delivery of scenic items. This may include working in all ENO

venues and other ENO spaces as required. • Participate in afternoon and night time changeovers, and strike and packs if required• Assist with the loading / unloading of other departments equipment.• Any other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Essential

• Good manual handling skills.• Enthusiasm and willingness to work. • Self-motivated and proactive. • The ability to work calmly under pressure and prioritise conflicting demands.• The ability to work well as part of a team

Desirable

• Stage operational experience in a professional theatre environment. • The ability to work at height using access equipment and PPE such as ladders and work- positioning equipment.• A practical working knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.• Industry recognised certificates in rigging, stage craft, and Health & Safety awareness.• The ability to read and interpret ground and stage plans.• Good knowledge of current stage and automation equipment. Training will be provided.• Basic carpentry skills
