    mini expansion: Motive

This expansion includes 7 Motive cards (each card has 2 copies 1 for the Spirit and 1 for the Investigators*), which can diversify the game and give the players a chance for easier determining the true culprit.

Motive cards during RECONSTRUCTION OF EVENTS

The Motive cards are introduced into the game when the first Investigator ends his task at the stage of the Reconstruction of Events (meaning he reveals his combination of Item, Location and Character).

The Spirit place the number of Motive cards equal to the number of players (including the Ghost) and secretly chooses the motive which could lead for a crime.

In the next turns that player, apart from helping other Investigators, tries to reveal the motive for actions of his suspect. In order to do so the player will receive Dream cards from the Spirit in the regular way.

As long as at least one Investigator still has to reveal his combination of the 3 crime elements, then each next Investigator who ends his task, may also try to guess the Motive of his suspect. The Spiritmust choose a different Motive for each Investigator, therefore he gives each player different Dreamcards.

Whenever an Investigator correctly guesses the Motive, he keeps its card.

The stage of Reconstruction of Events ends as in the standard rules so after all the players guess their combinations of the crime elements (Item, Location, Character). The game proceeds to the next stage regardless of whether Investigators guessed the Motives or not.

Motive cards during DISCLOSURE OF THE TRUE CULPRIT

After all the players reveal their combinations of Item, Location, Character, the Investigators give the Spirit their guessed Motive cards. For each of them the Spirit immediately discards one set of the crime elements from the game. Only after that he proceeds to choose Dream card(s) which should lead Investigators to guessing the true character who committed a crime.

    Rules update.

During the whole game:-----------------------------------------The Spirits hand size is 7 cards instead of 6.

During the RECONSTRUCTION OF EVENTS:-----------------------------------------The Item, Location and Character cards prepared by the Spirit for each player should stay together and form sets what will be important in the final phase of the game.

Whenever an Investigator correctly guesses any crime element, he keeps its card. These cards will be needed for the Disclosure of the True Culprit stage.

During DISCLOSURE OF THE TRUE CULPRIT: -----------------------------------------

Now Investigators place their kept Item, Location and Character cards in such a way that it is clear which sets are which. This way players create the number of sets equal to the number of Investigators in the game.

The Spirit freely selects the Character which players will need to identify to win the game. The Spirit should do this on the basis of the Dream cards in his hand and not randomly. He takes the matching Character card from the Spirit cards and lays it face down in front of him. The Spirit must remember not to let the players see which card is chosen, nor the ones left behind.

The Spirit then selects and puts before the Investigators exactly 3 Dream cards. These cards will all refer to one of the sets of cards. One of the Dream cards should refer to the Object, one the Location, and the other the Character. The Spirit also says which Dream card refers to which element.

Then each player must discuss which of the Characters the Spirit is trying to indicate. Before the Spirit can indicate whether the chosen Character is correct, the players must agree as a majority on the selected Character. If the players correctly determine chosen Character, the game is over and the players all share a victory.

If players have chosen the wrong Character, then the round ends and a new round begins. Players do not discard the Dream cards they were given. The Spirit refills his hand to have 7 cards again and may give the Investigators additional 3 cards in the new round a maximum of 1 card for each crime element (Item, Location, Character). Players have another chance to take the right decision. They may continue making guesses until they run out of rounds.

The rest of the rules remain the same.
