Children as young as 2–3 years old use mobile phones for long hours. This harms their health and growth. According to The Mind Map Centre, phones keep children away from their parents and family. They stay glued to the screen which badly affects the learning process at a very young age. Children reduce their physical activity and this causes serious health issues. Another scientist, Dr. Naveen Sodhi, is of the view that on-screen games can improve focus, help children solve puzzles and plan things. He says children become more aware and develop reading and maths skills.

Of the two brothers, Deepak was tall and strong, while Raman was short and weak. One day, the boys went to the river and heard a lion crying in pain from the other side. “Help me, boys!” the lion called.

“What do we do?” asked Raman. “He is hurt, but if we go near him, he will eat us alive.”

“No, nothing will happen. Don’t be afraid!” said Deepak. Raman refused to go near the lion. Deepak said angrily, “If the lion attacks, I can fight it alone.” As Deepak jumped into the river, Raman ran to call for help.

The lion was hurt and could only move his head. When he saw Deepak, the lion said, “Thank you, Deepak. If you help me, I promise to be your friend.”

He asked Deepak to come near to him, and stroke his back. Deepak agreed. Then the lion tricked Deepak into moving round to his front. The moment Deepak was in front of him, the lion attacked him.

Meanwhile, Raman came with the villagers. They rescued Deepak, but he was badly hurt. That day Deepak realised that he should have listened to Raman and acted wisely.

When I was sick and lay in my bed,

I had two pillows under my head,

And all my toys beside me lay

To keep me happy all the day.

And sometimes for an hour or so

I watched my trained soldiers go,

With different uniforms and drills,

Among the quilts, through the hills.

I sat on the pillow hill all day long,

I was a giant—great and strong.

I saw my soldiers marching in line,

I saluted them, they looked so fine.

(Adaptation of a poem by Robert Louis Stevenson)
