This born cricketer, Fun and ‘Hungama’ loving Qazi joined our class and from thevery first day made his presence felt. Politically he has been always very clear abouthis affiliations and convictions. He has never attempted to conceal his inclinationsat any cost.

After MBBS he decided to pursue Ophthalmology and after qualifying as anophthalmologist has worked in his field tirelessly. He has conducted the maximumnumber of Eye Surgery Camps in each and every district of Pakistan and not onlyhere but in most SAARC Countries as well. One cannot help noticing the joy andsatisfaction on his face after he has successfully restored the eyesight of a blindman. He loves and has taken exemplary care of his parents.

Qazi has been enthusiastically involved in the re-establishing and running of TheDelhi School and College which at one stage was a premier institution inKarachi. Despite being threatened by the Teacher Mafia, Qazi didn’t refrain fromdoing the right thing because of his belief that the broadening of education is vitalfor Pakistan. He left no stone unturned to save the sanctity of an institution whichwould certainly have doomed otherwise.

Qazi is a very good artist and his Calligraphy is worth seeing. Very few peopleknow that he is a Farmer as well. His family owns a big farm in Bahawalpur and atone point he was intensely involved in cultivation. He loves travelling.

He was appointed Medical Superintendent of Spencer Eye Hospital. In a very shorttime he changed the entire face of the hospital and its working environment. He isstill remembered as one of the most outstanding MS they have ever had. As a rewardfor all his good work he was thrown out of the hospital, but he never expressed anyregrets. Wasiq did his level best and achieved what he had wanted. Positions arevery transitory and he fondly cherishes a sense of fulfillment to enjoy a good night’ssleep.

Several Years ago Qazi established a completely free Eye Care Center on his farm inGadap town just outside Karachi and conducts surgical marathons there completelyfree every weekend. Patients are now attracted to this center from far and wide

Qazi Mohammad Wasiq’s persona as of today looks ageless. His radiogenic voicequality and sonorous tone is an acoustic pleasure to listen. The philanthropist sittingin his heart and soul is unrivaled. The hospitality and warmth shown by him for thebatch-mates of 79 is exceptional.

Shoaib great write up for Qazi Jee,I know him prior to day one of our admission to dow,I had a wonderful time with Mateen sahib (QW nick name)I can write a lot about QW, especially things very few people know about himlovely human, very sincere friend, always helpful,great artist especially in caligraphy (once he wrote Shadi invitation card with his own hand writing in urdu for Rafiqconductor in first year and posted on notice board, response from first year CR? can not write on this forum).keeker type cricketer (he was not only selected under 19, but was captain for karachi and Pakistan university in most top domestic Quaid-e-azam trophy)extremely fine and artistic surgeon (I think he can make world record of doing heighest numbers of eye camps and eye surgeries).politically active (very few know that his Uncle was a senator and very close associate of late Z.A. We all know his work in Spencers Hospital and then his free services to the poor community in Gidab,but I think he has always been thinking about working for the comunity where ever and whenever possible.On one of my visits to Karachi I found him busy in establishing educational institute for the youger students in our school from where we graduated....., Dehli School. His leadership qualities are unmatchable and believe he has a lot more to deliver.(QAZI — YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN). He is brilliant surgeon with artistic finish. And of course he is a big admirer of the beautiful things in life – whatever sphere it may be. Dear Shoaibthanks for posting yet again a stalwart of DOW 79. I got to know Qazi from day one of my entry to Dow. He lived in the same block as i did in North Nazimabad. I quite often use to hang out with his crowd at the corners (NUKKAR). I always felt very comfortable in his company. I remained in touch with him through out my life. Each time i visited Karachi I always met up with him at Spencer or his clinic in defence or at PMA.

He has a heart of Gold and although gives an impression of a court jester their is a very serious man within with a purpose. One day I asked him about his charity project and he was not very forthcoming. On my insistence he came out with the details. I had to persuade him to let the world know and that is the only way his project could be sustained. Even then he was reluctant as he never wanted to be seen as self publicist.Bravo, Bravo.

Over the years he has matured but remains effervescent.Qazi ji we had great time with you in Derby. I hope you enjoyed it as much as me and my family did.Keep up the good work. Proud to know you as friend.Ifti
