eg. The row below shows an example of how to fill in this online lesson record for ESP students and group students
1 10/10 To practise the present perfect talking about past experience. Students will prepare a bucket list about things they would like to do and then go around asking each other whether they have done these things. At the end of the lesson we will look at the grammar at the back of English File. Students vote on which item on the bucket list is the best and then plan a trip together.
We started of with the bucket list which took longer than expected. Conversation went well. We started off planning on the best bucket item list so it could be done in a future lesson as we didn’t manage to finish the trip to ….
Students needed a little help to write down their ideas. I would like to … I’ve always wanted to… Got to grips using the present perfect to talk about past experience. Some students have problems with pronunciation of would. Silent l and using I’ve instead of have. Well done everyone
Would be nice to do the planning of the trip to … in a future lesson as we didn’t manage to. The class is very talkative

General conversation, establishing priorities
We talked about her job, about holidays and a little about food. The differences between North and Southern Italy.
Giovanna speaks to a high level and with good comprehension. She is ‘ashamed’ of her English, to use her own words but does not need to be. While there are small things to address (plurals) the next steps are more advanced.
Conditionals Technical / scientific vocabulary

Discussion of ‘presenting at work’ plus business idioms
We talked about presenting skills - what makes a good and bad presentation, good and bad leadership. We then moved on to discuss various business idioms.
Giovanna’s English is strong and confident - there are occasional pronunciation problems, with emphasis, and she often uses the future tense where conditionals are needed.
Conditionals More idioms

Discussion of rules and regulations. Describing graphs
We looked at rules in the workplace and in Italy, practised with conditionals in a conversational context and finally comparatives in relation to data.
Giovanna spoke very well this lesson and made few mistakes with the vocabulary. She is particularly strong at technical vocabulary but could work on fluency.

Conversation Listening
We had a general conversation first, then did a listening ‘Annoying things’, discussing the topic and learning new vocab
Giovanna’s listening skills are quite good, she’s lacking some of the basic vocabulary, though can pick it up pretty quickly

Business and travel conversations Phonetic alphabet and second conditional
First we went over the phonetic alphabet. Then we started to talk about business and travel. Then we used the second conditional to talk about unlikely scenerios.
Very good lesson with Giovanna, very natural and positive. May need to look at more advanced grammar through activities.
Fun grammar activities and conversation.
