Introduction

This is an English Work that I created during this school year, so

far I have written many writings the first one was a description.

I have learned how to describe a famous actress and singer, I also

have learned how to talk about food, restaurants, and my

favourite foods and drinks.I learned to describe back covers of

books and talk about my dreams in the future, I also created one

resume, and I talked about mobile phones, The Habit of Reading,

and life’s fast. I enjoyed working on these writings.

My biggest challenge was create a radio soap opera of the

Whodunit, by Adam Greay, My team had several mistakes, but

finally we made it.

Learning reflection

Writing helps me practice English to learn the vocabulary,

grammar and how to communicate in writing.

Thanks to this I can say that have improved my writing and I

can think faster in English than before.

I have learned how talk in different context to activities of

everyday life. This allows me practice to increase my knowledge

in English, but I specially to learn from my mistakes. I also

learned a little pronunciation and think in English.

Singer, Taylor Swift.

She is a singer and a famous actress. Her original name is Taylor

Alison Swift. Taylor was born in Pennsylvania, United States.

Her date of birth is December 13 rd 1989.

Taylor studied at the Aaron Academy, It is a religious school.

Swift used to write songs, poetry and a little book, when she was

little girl. She worked at Big Machine Records.

In 2006 I had her first album, called “Taylor Swift”, this won

one grammy, Taylor published more albums in 2008, 2010 and

2012.

She had two boyfriends, their names are Joe Jonas, singer of

the band “Jonas Brothers”, and Harry Styles, singer of the band

“One Direction”.

Eating and Drinking

I almost never go to restaurants because I like to eat in my house

with my family but I go to my aunt’s house in Day of the Dead

and my aunt likes to go to a restaurant with me and my brother.

The name of restaurant is “Las Nuevas Galias”.

They serve delicious food but Their speciality are desserts.

They have a selection of cakes and pays. Their cakes have good

presentation and are tasty so delicious that you want more.

The book tells the story of Troya but this story in this time. The

main characters are Helena, Lucas and their families.

Starcrossed is a passionate love story but the author adds a

science-fiction adventure. This story is a serie of three books.

Helena and Lucas are in love but they can’t be together

because If they are together the Olympian gods come down to

Earth and gods make wars.

Only Helena and Lucas can change the destiny of Earth and

safe their love.

Mobile phones Mobile phone is a big advance in technology, because all people

have one, since the XIX century, the technology has improved

lifestyle around the world. Thanks to mobile phone, we can

communicate with people around the world.

Now, mobile phones have many apps that allow us to do

many activities at the same time. Mobile phone also have many

forms to communicate, for example: messages, calls and others

apps.We with mobile phones can talk with people in others

continents, countries, and cities.

The apps into mobile phone are newfangled, people most of

time are distracted by mobile phone which many types of

accidents, for example traffic accidents.

Mobile phone also distract children with the games,

children don’t go to play outside, they don’t do exercise.

In conclusion, I believe that mobile phones are good and

bad, It depends on the way you use them. People must learn to

do activities without using mobile phones all time.

The habit of Reading In recent years, In Mexico, the school try to teach people how to read

because many people don’t know how to read. Reading is a skill to learn

more about many things, cultures, places, etc. This advantage is more

important.

Books can entertain you with others activities, it also relaxing because

you forget your problems for some time. There are many libraries and you

can buy cheap books, but, now there are several disadvantages.

People usually work more time and they have less time to read and

relax, this reason, we don’t have much free time, people arrive home tired

and they don’t want to read.

Time and money

Now, We have more free time than our grandparents because

technology has created new things so that we can do many

things in less time. For example, in the school, I do my homework

with computer and internet, but before my grandparents did

their homework with books, libraries were very far and transport

was rare in town. Other important thing is, that communication

was slower than now, because, we use internet, messanges,

facebook, etc. But, before they using letters.

People can’t spend their free time with their families,

because they work several hours and when, they arrived at their

house, they are tired. Children spend their free time, playing

video games, and watching T.V.

In my opinion, we have more free time than our

grandparents, but we don’t spend right our free time for

influence of technology in our lives.

Life’s fast

Life now, is very fast because

technology has created many things

so that We have an easy life, but

people work more hours than

before. The industrial revolution

did several machines such, trains, buques, airplanes, etc.

People spend their time in their, work, sleeping, transport,

in the traffic, etc. Now, they don’t have much free time to spend

it, with their family, friends, and hobbies. Everybody does less

exercise than before. It´s creating several health problems.

My vacations

Hello! Karen

I will tell you about Tuxpan,

Veracruz. It is a beautiful place

because people are friendly.

The weather is a Little hot but

tuxpan is near the sea, the air

is very fresh.

Navarro bitch is a place where you can swim in the sea or in

a lake, located next to the sea. Waves are slow and the water is

clear. You can practice surfing and ride a banana.

there are many people, but you

can choose from many

restaurants. The traditional food

are octopus, shrimps and oysters

in a contel. They are very

delicious but crabfish is better.

My community

I live in a colony. Here, there are

several shops. You can buy different

products, becuase, in all places, you

can find many things.

My Street is quite, there are almost never passing cars, in my

colony, there is not a recycle culture, becuase there is garbage in the

streets. The colony is small although there are many people. There are

several tres, birds, flowers, and others animals, and there is

contamination.

Radio Soap Opera , Whodunit By Adam Greay

The Inverted Eagle

Episode 1

*Narrator: Detective Ellie steps out of her car and watches the Reed’s

house. She couldn’t believe that anyone would want to live in such an

enormous house.

*Yokota: “Ellie” “Over here”

*Ellie: “where”(shout Ellie)

*Yokota: “look up”

*Narrator: On the third floor window she sees her friend Officer

Kazuo Yokota and then she goes up to the third floor. Soon she is face

to face with detective Yokota.(footsteps)

*Ellie: “What happened?”

*Yokota: Someone wished “Someone was drugged, a robbery, and

almost a murder.”

*Narrator: She takes out her detective’s notebook and a pen from

inside her long black coat.

*Ellie: “Details”(sounds like Ellie is writing)

*Yokota: “This home belongs to Evan and Nancy Reed. This morning,

at about 9:00, the housekeeper found them unconscious in their

bedroom and called 9-1-1. Their wall safe, was open and empty. Nancy

Reed was barely breathing and almost died. We aren’t sure yet, but it

looks like someone put some pills in their evening tea.

*Ellie: “What was stolen from the safe?”(Sounds like Ellie is writing)

*Yokota: “According to Judith Reed, (who is Evan’s mother), there was

a box of Nancy Reed’s jewelry inside the safe. There was also cash.

Finally, there was her most valuable stamp, an ‘Inverted Eagle’ stamp

*Narrator: Ellie nods as she write her notes

*Ellie: “Who else lives in the house?” (sounds like Ellie write)

*Yokota: “Five other people live here: Judith Reed, Nancy Reed, Evan

Reed, Allison and Kevin Reed. Kevin’s unemployed and lives here all

year. Allison’s a student at Brown University. She is engaged to marry

Derrick Quenton, the son of Ted Quenton.”

*Ellie: “Ted Quenton? The owner of Quenton Hotels?”

*Yokota: “Anyway, the other two people who live here are Lucia Deza,

the housekeeper, and her son, Miguel, he is a pre-med student at

Georgetown University.”

*Ellie: “Georgetown?”(Sounds like Ellie is writing, wait)

*Narrator: ask Ellie, very surprised

*Ellie: “Georgetown is a very expensive university. How can the son of

a housekeeper afford to go there?”

*Yokota: “Miguel is smart. He earned a full scholarship, so the

university pays for his education. He keeps the scholarship by getting

very high grades.”

*Ellie: “Good for him,”

*Yokota: “Judith, Kevin, and Allison Reed just came back from the

hospital. Do you want to interview them?”

*Ellie: “In a minute,”

*Narrator: scribbling in her notebook.

*Ellie: “I want to look at the bedroom first.”

*Narrator: Yokota led Ellie down a long hallway. The Reeds’ bedroom

door is open. Ellie notices a set of keys still hanging from the keyhole.

Inside, several police officers are dusting for fingerprints.(footsteps)

*Ellie: “Who found the Reeds this morning?”

*Yokota: “Let’s see. Mr. Reed’s mother, Judith, knocked on the door

this morning at about 8:50. She was worried because the Reeds

usually wake up around 7:30. No one answered, so she went to find

Lucia, the housekeeper. Together they opened the door around 9:00.”

*Ellie: “Could you bring Judith and Lucia here?”

*Narrator: Yokota nods and left Ellie alone in the doorway. Inside the

bedroom she is greeted by another officer who was taking

photographs.(sound of the camera taking photos)

*Ellie: “Has anything been moved?”

*Officer: “No, ma’am, this is exactly how the room looked when we

arrived.”

*Narrator: Ellie ran her fingers through her straight, black hair,

studying the scene, she noticed it was the huge bed directly in front

of her. On the left side of the bed there was nothing unusual, but on

the floor was a spilled teacup. Next to the teacup there was a large wet

spot.

*Ellie: “That wet spot, is that tea?”

*Officer: “Yes, we’ve sent a sample to the crime lab to see if it was

drugged.”

*Narrator: Ellie’s eyes focused behind the painting. The painting

swung open from the left, revealing a hidden wall safe. The safe was

open and completely empty, Ellie puts on a pair of gloves and walks

to the right side of the bed, She watches a Rolex and Evan Reed’s

wallet.

*Ellie: Why didn’t the thief steal these items? (undertone)

*Narrator: Ellie turn and see Yokota and Judith Reed, Judith narrow

face is very pale and her eyes is wet with tears.Behind her, Lucia Deza

looks down at her feet, the housekeeper see nervously around the

room.

*Ellie: I’m Detective Koo, I’m in charge of the investigation.

*Judith: I’m Judith Reed

*Lucia: I’m Lucia Deza, I’m the housekeeper.

*Narrator: Lucia speaks very well english but she is Peruvian as

Ellie.Most people met Ellie thought she is from Indonesia or the

Philippines.Ellie isn’t very tall and is one of only a few female

detectives of the police force. However, She never had any problems

commanding the respect of fellow officers.

*Ellie: Ms Reed, Can you please tell me what happened this morning?

(Ellie ask gently)

*Judith: You see, my son always wake up early.This morning, I didn’t

see him in the kitchen, I waited and then decided to knock on the

door. No one answered, so I looked all over the house for Lucia. I

couldn’t find her anywhere,Then finally, I saw her outside in the

garden. I went outside, brought, and we knocked again, then she

opened the door and we saw…( Judith start crying)

*Ellie: Ms Deza, What did you see?

*Lucia: It was terrible, I thought they were… gone. Mr Reed was there.

*Narrator: Lucia Deza points to the right side of the bed

*Lucia: his book was on his chest, his head was against the headboard,

His teacup was upside-down on the bed. And Mrs Reed was lying

down, her hands folded on her stomach, holding her teacup. She

looked like an angel. We called out their names but they didn’t move,

I shook Ms Reed and the cup slipped from her hand and the tea

spilled all over the floor, Still, she didn’t wake up, That’s when I called

9-1-1

*Ellie: Ms. Reed, she asked is that how you remember it?

*Ms Reed: Yes? (Answered the old woman, still crying but not as

hard.)

*Ellie: Ms. Deza, did you bring them the tea last night?

*Lucia: Yes, I always bring them tea before bed. (She said shakily)

*Ellie: What time was that?

*Lucia: 9:30, like always. I knocked on the door and Mrs. Reed told

me to come in. I unlocked the

door, gave Mrs. Reed her tea, and put Mr. Reed’s tea on the table near

the bed. Then I left and locked

the door.

*Ellie: Where was Mr. Reed?

*Lucia: I heard the shower. He always takes a shower at night.

*Narrator: Ellie looked up from her notebook and smiled at Lucia,

trying to calm her.

*Ellie: You prepared the tea in the kitchen?

*Lucia: Yes. (She answers very fast)

*Ellie: Alone?

*Narrator: The housekeeper looked down to the floor and nodded.

*Ellie: Did you leave the kitchen for any reason? Could someone else

have drugged the tea?

*Lucia: I don't remember. (whispered Lucia). I might have gone to the

bathroom, or sometimes I sit in

the dining room while the water is boiling. I’m sorry, I don’t know

*Narrator: Ellie smiled, but did not believe in what he said Lucia.

*Ellie: And after preparing the tea? What did you do then?

*Lucia: I went to sleep. My room is next to my son’s, on the first floor.

*Ellie: Ms. Reed, who knows the combination to the wall safe?

*Ms. Reed: Only Evan, Nancy, and I.

*Ellie: Only the three of you?

*Ms. Reed: That’s what I said, (She said with some anger).

*Narrator: Ellie noticed that she had stopped crying.

*Ellie: Well, whoever opened the safe knew the combination, because

it wasn’t forced open. (Ellie said politely). And the bedroom here. Is it

always locked?

*Lucia: Always. Mr. and Mrs. Reed insist that their bedroom door

must always be locked.

*Ellie :And the key to the bedroom? Who has a key?

*Ms. Reed: There are four keys (answered Ms. Reed, calmly now).

Evan has one, Nancy has one, Lucia has one, and I have one.

*Narrator: Ellie stops writing and looks up, confused.

*Ellie: Ms Reed , if you have a key, why did you look for Lucia this

morning? Why didn’t you open the door yourself?

*Narrator: Her cheeks blushing, Judith Reed answers

*Judith: I haven’t seen my keys in two days I think someone stole

them.

*Ellie: Did you tell this to anyone?

*Judith: No (murmure), I was too embarrassed. Besides, I thought I

would find them eventually, but I’ve looked everywhere.

*Ellie: I think it’s time to meet the others.
