INTRODUCTION TO CARDIAC ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY (PART 1)

Cardiac Electrophysiology Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) is used to diagnose and treat abnormal electrical functions of the heart. It’s one of the fastest growing fields in cardiology, with a shortage of trained personnel. Cardiac EP is a two-semester course designed to give health care professionals an introduction to cardiac electrophysiological concepts and procedures and prepares those already working in invasive cardiology or health care for career opportunities as EP specialists. Students learn the heart’s normal electrical function, analysis of cardiac arrhythmias, basic EP laboratory techniques, and advanced techniques for interventional procedures or treatments such as implanting pacemakers and ablations.

Cardiac EP instruction at SF conforms to the framework of the Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) examination administered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

Upon completion of the two courses, a student must also meet the clinical requirements to sit for the national RCES credentialing examination. Eligibility requirements for the RCES examination are found at www.cci-online.org. To learn more about SF’s Cardiac EP classes, contact Erik Hushelpeck at 352-395-5691.

To access your online course, go to the SF homepage, click on LOGIN and click on CANVAS for instructions.
