Cover storyLeanne Louise is an up and coming recording artist & Songwriter based in Essex and London.Known for her creative writing and catchy hooks with comparisons to the likes of Lily Al-len and Kate Nash.In 2010 Leanne Louise received great feedback from the Open Mic UK Judging panel ‘’excel-lent song well performed with quirky voice and originality’’ ... 2011 has seen many arising projects and some very exciting opportunities and now Leanne Louise is recording for her future album. She started singing and writing songs 4 years ago at school with friends after being inspired by artists such as Alicia Keys and Amy Wine-house although only started taking things seri-ously over 1 year ago. Since writing one of her first track “summers day” last summer in 2010 and has been writ-ing ever since, performing and pushing herself as an artist. She reached the regional finals of open mic uk in Basildon 2010 this was my first live performace and gave me the confidence to start a career as a recording artist.

This year at the start of June I released my first single ‘Summer’s Day’ and performed an A64 (Live Acoustic) for SB.TV at Red Bull Studios in London. This single has had the backing from many online websites promoting new music.2011 for me has been about meeting new people and building a fanbase, my main aim this year has been to create a buzz to gain interest. She has been gigging this year since may and already has performed throughout London in Camden & Tower Bridge, throughout Essex in Hooga, The golden fleece and with BBC Essex at their road-show in Southend, in Clacton for Party On The Park and many other interesting venues. Also this year she has been working on many tracks with her very own brother ‘RDubz’ DJ/Pro-

ducer/MC from Essex. I have worked on her tracks with him recently and one of her latest track ‘Crazy’ was remixed by him and has received radio play from the BBC, Ministry Of Sound Radio, Image fm, Phoenix fm, London Turkish Radio + Many more. We have many exciting projects to come including more remixes and tracks featuring us both which I am very excited about! At this current time she has collaborations with many dif-ferent UK artists that are up and coming rising and work-ing hard to push themselves, for her, it is important to be involved with artists and producers that are at the same stage as me that have an amazing amount of talent and are willing to push the projects they are working on and she is also working on her own material along with meeting new people and making connections. With my latest tracks I have been getting remixes to-gether from different producers and dj’s and already I have reached stations such as Kiss fm, Image radio and have bigger events throughout London as a result.

Her plans for the future include carrying on with whatshe is doing but stepping everything up a level each time, she would like to reach the whole of the UK and America with my music... She sets very high standards for herself and she intends one day to reach them.

Q: So which in your mind is better, New York or London? A: I wouldn’t say either is better really, they’re totally unique in different ways.. I love New York because that’s where my music career as such is, and I love the constant energy there in the city and the smell of coffee first thing in the morning. The clubs are crazzzy and at night the lights so inspiring to watch glow! London in another way is a very fast paced lifestyle, and there are all these different areas where so much happens, and its where a lot of my career happens!

Q: What’s the name of your album? A: It Doesn’t have one as of yet....

Q: Ok, your bio says you are releasing a single next year, have you got a name for that? A: We have many singles from the album which I’ve recorded and am recording but we haven’t decided which lead track we’ll be dropping yet....

Q: The readers would love to know what vide-ogame you are filming for. A: I’m currently filming a few things. But the video game is called “The Shorditch Slayer” and will be a live game where you go online and sign up for it and then.. Let the games begin! I’m the female vampire!! A: Ahh its looking sickkk!!!

sible.. Of course being in the right place at the right time helps, but if you have some-thing special in you then let it shine baby!! And that same assistant director Michael Stevenson, got me into Harry Potter! I still to this day feel very blessed to all these people who have stood by me and believed in me and are helping me to achieve me wildest dreams!

Q: Is there anyone in particular from the industry who has inspired you? A: Yes of course, many have inspired me and even some up rising stars in their own right continue to inspire me... Michael Jackson, he will live on forever in many of our hearts and through his music and dance and dance skills he inspired me “to be the best of who I am” and have my own flavour and know that’s what people will love one day! Miley Cyrus, for being a triple threat and having a caricature of herself in a TV show and hav-ing some making some great hits! Triple threat is a big term they use in America but its what I’m more often than not getting named these days, we’ll see, I will be really smashing it when my stuffs on that level and higher! But it will be, watch! I also really look up to Rachel McAdams as an Actress as she is so versatile and so believable and

Q: Do you ever get time to yourself? A: Yeah once a year haha no... All the time, its just limited and when I do its a luxury! I love spending time with my family and close girlfriends! Without them keeping me on track and chaperoning me at many of my shoots just for company I’d be lost! Its great when I meet other artists who I form a bond with and then we hang out, our schedules are usually pretty similar that’s why we gel

Q: What is the difference you found between awards in the UK and those in the US? A: They’re just way bigger and more hyped in the US! And the guest list is crazy in the US too. But the U.K. awards are lots of fun and are defo coming right up there! I try and take a different close friend with me when I can, so they can enjoy it with me and lounge in the vip with the freebies! I LOVE my freebies, it’s like xmas everyday!! Y’all need to make sure you get down there for them if anything! One day I’ll make sure all my fans are sent goody bags personally from me ;) and aspire to one day be someone yourself

The Game reviewAt this time last year every one had gone Call of duty mad! The main reason for this was the fact that the internet had connected so many gamers from around the world and also the prequels that came before black ops revolutionised the way in which we play. The creator of Doom have come back with a new offering called Rage, this game is going to be just as big if not bigger than CoD Black Ops. The graphics are on another level, the imagination and creativity of the people responsible for Rage should be awarded for their efforts

Battlefield 3 has finally arrived and it has been well anticipated and with very good reason! The series has produced some of the most lifelike experience in a variety of battle zones where the players get stuck in. The game is freakishly addictive especially playing online. The cooperative missions are also very good but that is also dependant on the oppo-nents you have in the multiplayer mode. This game gets 8/10 from Entel Digimag!

Since Black ops Call of duty has continued to move forward in the development of their latest offering due to hit the stores this month. Modern warfare 3 is set to make black ops look basic in the weaponry they use in this release. To be honest compared to other games of this genre, Modern warfare3 is in its own league. Possibly because this edition of CoD is set in world war 3. That alone should give you an idea of what to expect.

Whats next in the world of tech? The world was taken over by Google not so long ago infact the most recent development I can remember off the top of my head is them merg-ing with youtube. Now the search engine giant is under threat since the introduction of the iphone 4S with its Siri technology. At first glance you would say that it is only just a voice recognition technology, but there is a lotmoretoit!Forstartersithasbeenbuilt with artificial intelligence which allows it to “understand” what is said conceptually. Now with that being said, this allows the device to search the web, read text messages and respond to them just by you speak-ing to the device. In a Q and A session by CNET with Gary Morgenthaler a partner in the venture that first invested in Siri before its ownership transferred to apple back in 2010. The advantage of Siri is that it has a “personality” as it were and can be instructed to do specific things like do your shopping in your favorites at Tesco or buy a particular item from Argos. He made an interesting point when he mentioned the number of results when you search a keyword in google in comparison to getting a single result when using Siri. He sug-gested that this is the way in people will interact with computers and mobile devices in the future. How-ever one of the appeals of the Google search engine is that businesses are always vying for the top spot on the search results. It will definitely be an interesting 2012 as we observe what will grab the larger chunk of the con-sumer crowd.

Blackberry has suffered recently since the whole world experienced a black out on the RIM network. There was no explanation as to what was the root cause of the black out in the first place. The device range has been getting fearce competition from rivals such as Apple and Android devices from other leading mobile phone manufacturers. The developments from companies like HTC, Sony and Samsung has made the market share held by RIM at risk since the popular-ity of Balckberry may very well be short lived. The consumer market has once again shown that people gravitate to products that are reliable and durable although to be honest most companies are more fo-cused on how to make a profit. In the same breath I could also say some companies are working towards giving consumers a more worthwhile experience

Top Boy -Picture thisIn the weeks leading up to the premier of gritty “Urban” drama Top Boy, London was bombard-ed with promotion urging everyone to tune in. you couldnt go from one side of London to the other without seeing a billboard, turn on chan-nel 4 without seeing an advert, or sit on the bus and not hear the schoolchildren talking about it. It was big news!!!!Followingonfromthesuccessoffilmssuchas Kidulthood, Adulthood and Shank, Top Boy was highly anticipated what with there being a severe lack of Black/Urban programs/films on our screens.I tuned in along with everyone else and felt slightly uncomfortable half way through the first episode. it was shot very well, had a fantas-tic cast of actors who each captured their roles convincingly and a screenplay that was grip-ping and emotional, however it wasn’t enough to stop me from leaving with a bad taste in my mouth and want of a more positive storyline.Whilst there is a definite need for more Black/Urban offerings on screen in the UK, I think we need to be more mindful of what we are offer-ing and realise that it will influence people both negatively and positively. Most of these productions have been in the same style, focusing on the criminal element of urban life rather than focusing on the high achieving, legal rags to riches, stories that are also a big part of urban culture. The Image of black youth has been rapidly deteriorating over the last decade due to widespread media attention on the undesirable elements, glorification of the criminal lifestyle by mainstream rap artists, and yes *SHOCK HORROR* the actions of a small minority of disenfranchised youth who are engaging in criminal activity (such as those involved in the recent riots).So.......we’ve seen that side of urban youth cul-ture, we know it exists and we’ve seen the same stories retold in a different way over and over so now don’t you think its time the change the picture, tune into a different frequency???Picture this, If we show more of the positive stories that have nothing to do with stereo-

types and more to do with the human instinct to survive that resides in us all (regardless of colour, creed, class etc..) then we as a society would pro-duce more youth that strive for greatness, know their potential and use it to elevate themselves and others. and I don’t mean role models that succeed in fields that are used as stereotypes for successful high achievers of colour (music, sports, entertainment), I mean those that are successful in fields where people of colour are underrepre-sented such as Business, Law, Art, Architecture, Medicine etc.. fields where success and achieve-ment are solely based on knowledge, strength of mind, honesty and host of attributes that are almost everlasting. If we were broadcasting these kind of positive realities on a more regular basis than the nega-tive then we would see a paradigm shift not only in the minds of the youth but also in the minds of the public at large, people who may not person-ally know any black/urban youth but get their opinions from the media, people who may have the means to offer opportunities to these youth (through apprenticeships, work experience, men-toring etc..) but shy away due to their negative perception.Personally I think what a lot of the youth are cry-ing out for is a chance, trust, benefit of the doubt “Just because I like to wear a hoody and hang on the streets with my friends doesn’t mean I wont put 100% into building a career for myself, dosent mean you wont be able to trust me to work a till, dosent mean that I should be the first one up for accusation when something goes wrong “.Once we acknowledge this need, stand together to reject these negative stereotypes forced upon the younger generation and make every effort to have the many positives highlighted in the media then we will slowly start to see changes.Until then we need to be mindful of what we pro-mote, how we interact with each other and the picture we are transmitting to our youth.

Clubbing or house party?Over the years I have been to all sorts of celebrations. Weddings, christenings, birthdays, Launch parties the list goes on. The main question that remained is what do people prefer? Going out raving or going to a house party? They both have their advantages and dis-advantages and this is dependant on the mood and the company you’re in. House parties are great fun because you get there at the time that suites you and normally there isn’t an admission fee unless requested to bring a bottle (which is common custom anyway) and its on! The selection of music depends on the host and DJ however 9 times out of 10 the music on offer would be to your taste since you have been invited by someone who probably has similar preference. You are likely to come across like minded people since friends and acquaintances prefer to get along than have arguments (but you will get the odd idiot who wants to make a spec-tacle for what ever reason). Security is hardly an issue since most of the people in the premises know one another to a certain extent. However you do get the

odd crowd that get out of hand and the police end up at the front door due complaints from neighbours. Then you have going out raving, this has some drama to it just as you would find with a house party only that the elements are slightly differ-ent, you have more strangers in the building which is a good thing since you are more likely to come across someone new and possibly hit it off with them. You have a specialised music policy specified by organisers of the event so you know what you are getting into. There are a variety of clubs that play various genres of music so getting your flavour is not difficult. In fact now more than ever I believe we are spoilt for choice as far as music is concerned. There is music from all over the world available for us to enjoy so no matter who you are or what you like playing there is a rave or house party with your name on it. The only thing I would advise about both is that you go to have a good time responsibly so get back home safe with an interesting story to tell!

The way of life that has been depicted by the numerous voices of London Hip hop have been grantedanewconduitthroughStationFM.DJEvidenz and Sovon Bedrock on the decks playing tunesfromthelikesofRodneyP,JustListen,FatherAkes and many many more!! The best bit about the show was not only is it on a Monday, it’s on from 1pm till 4pm and available online via the website. It was an emotional event for Sonov Bedrock and the Masters as the debut show was a resounding suc-cess as reflected by the response from the listeners. Since there will be more shows to come this will be a window of opportunity for artists in the London hip hop community who otherwise haven’t been that fortunate in the past. The talent that was fea-tured on the show was just a drop in the ocean of music from all sides of London. Normally a situation where an experienced producer gets the chance to work in a radio station, they would be biased to their own crowd. Dungeon Muzik is different, they are inviting everyone who has good hiphop music to offer to showcase what they have and expand their following. Its projects like this that result in collaborations from different areas and unifying a community that has been identified in the past as divided. The best part is this is just the begin-ning and there is a lot more where that came from. Some of the artists featured on the show have been unsung heroes in this sector of hip hop for the past ten years. It’s quite something to be involved in such a huge development that is set to gather mo-mentum as the times progress. @EntelDigimag will bewithDungeonMuzikatStationFMeveryweekto give you an update on the guests coming to the studio, up coming events and the latest develop-ments in London Hip hop.www.stationfm898.net
