QTell us about yourself? I am a passionatedancer and performer. Confidence is my

middle name. I was born in Germany and myparents are from India.

QWhen did you start dancing? Have youtaken any formal coaching for it?

I started dancing at the age of three. But Ienrolled for professional classes when I turnedfive. I used to attend special classes for 3-5 daysa week for a couple of hours at least. At home, Ido stretching exercises and practise steps everyday. That helps in honing my talent.

QHow was your experience in the DanceWorld Cup? I was very nervous at first

because the stage was huge. However, as Istarted living with my team in Portugal, Irelaxed quite a bit. My friends and co-partici-pants gave me the confidence that I could winthe trophy.

QDoes dancing teach you anything aboutlife? Yes, it taught me — when you prac-

tise and work hard, you can win.

QDoes a good dancer also make you agood leader? Yes. Dancing teaches you to

be focussed and chanellise your energies inthe right way. It teaches you team spirit too.

QAny message for youngsters like youwho are talented and want to be

achievers? Work very hard and never give upon your dream.

QWho is your inspiration? My mom anddad who have supported me through thick

and thin. My dance trainer, Heidi Weber, is alsosomeone I look up to. She is very active and areally cool trainer.

WHAT IS CYBERPUNK GENRE?Cyberpunk is science fiction, often set in a dystopi-an future, in which society is dominated, for betteror worse, by computers and the internet. Rather thandirect government overlords, society-at-large is usu-ally controlled by mega-corporations who skew thebalance of power in their favour and ignore the poorneedy – fuelling tensions and inspiring revolution.The people are represented by radical groups usingtheir soldiers — or hackers — to shock the system.The internet is used as a great equaliser, a weaponof the oppressed to even the playing field againsttheir tormentors. The genre started out in literature,with stories by such visionary authors as WilliamGibson, Bruce Sterling, and Neal Stephenson, amongso many others. Eventually the movement made itsway onto the big screen. A good example of a cy-berpunk film is ‘Hackers’ (1995) starring JonnyLee Miller and Angelina Jolie. It’s a gorgeoustechno-pop cyberpunk film directed by Iain Soft-ley of ‘K-Pax’, ‘Inkheart’ fame.
