Their system has the merit of simplicity and of accordance with the principal terminology heretofore employed, but the working of this out for all the orders of insects and its direct application throughout, merits the thanks of every student and must have entailed far more labor than is com- monly given to a volume of this sort. It is in the nature of an original research. We have not space to enter upon further details but must express our belief that the volume will greatly further the study of insects in this country. A.
