Understand – Study – Analyze the requirements

• Understand the application within the business context• Understand the personas and scenarios• Understand the application and the workflows, features and

functionalities• Understand the technology – its capabilities and limitations.

Heuristic Evaluation and Usability Audit

• Audit the application to identify:• Obvious usability/ UX bugs• Possible areas of improvement

• The application will be tested for:• Usability• Standardization• Information Architecture• Help/ Tool-tips• Communication/ Instructions• Workflow• Navigation

User Research

• Understand the user requirements and document the same.• Understand the user needs and pain-points from a domain

perspective.• Understand their views on the application, its limitations and

irritants.• Document he user requirement and classify according to personas

and scenarios

UXD will not engage in user research for the project with Elucido

Planning to re-design and develop an application must take into consideration the following:

• Project budget• Thick/ Thin client or platform• Technology to be used• Limitations/ constraints• End-user minimum system configurations• Deployment environments – SaaS/ On-Premise• Level of interactivity end-users may need based on personas

and domains.• Available bandwidth• etc

Functional Design

• Defining the features, functionalities, workflow• What new features can be added?• How can the work-flow be simplified?

Structuring/ Navigation

• How must the application be structured?• How can a user navigate through the application?• What can be added to make navigation simple and easy to

use?• What can be done to improve accessibility?

Information Architecture

• What should the page contain?

• Laying out the functionalities on each page.

• Where must it exactly be placed on a page?

Usability Design

• What can be done to enhance ease of use of features and functionalities.

• Deciding on persistent/ on-demand information presentation.

• Deciding on dashboard numbers and types.• Type of information that must be made available to

make users feel comfortable.• What “Nice-to-have” features can be added to bring

in a lighter tone to the overall appeal of the application, that will be appreciated by the user (e.g. rich drop-down navigations)

Wire-Framing

• This is a process and is the stage where a bulk of our efforts are spent. This is the skeletal structure of the interfaces comprising navigation, work flow, information architecture, content, functionality

• This is the stage where the top-line strategy gets rolled into the actual execution and this translation requires us to get right into the business case and get greatly involved in architecting each interface

• It captures all of the previous activities of all the previous phases• Iterations are made until all stakeholders and users are completely

satisfied.

• Attention given to communication, instruction, messaging throughout the interfaces

• The content that has been generated will be placed into the information architecture.

• Content/ information elements will be highlighted, hidden from view, placed on demand in a manner that will enhance ease of use.

• This step also provides a direction to the graphic design stage - bringing in a WOW factor through powerful visual appeal, high levels of finishing and detailing.

• Strong iconization that will further enhance usability.• Every screen of the application will be designed in PhotoShop

Development and Testing

• We can develop in

• HTML/ JS/ CSS• FLASH/ Silver lite/ Flex• .NET Framework• PHP• Wordpress/ Joomla/ Drupal and other open-source frameworks.

Delivery:

• Delivery can done before development as layered Photoshop files• Or it can be delivered as HTML/ CSS/ Flash/ JS/ JQ files• Backend integration is optional• Final files are tested for compatibility (across browsers or

operating systems)• Code will be verified and validated.• The final application will be run on real-time test servers to catch

bugs early.• Once all parameters are matched/ adhered to, source files will be

transferred via FTP or e-mail.
