Ljubljana, a City With Plečnik’s Signature15 Jun - 7 Nov, Tivoli park, Jakopič’s promenadeLjubljana without Plečnik’s architecture is hard to imagine today, but that is how it looked in the 1920s, when Slovenia’s greatest architect began realising his masterful projects. The exhibition presents archival photographs by Peter Naglič, a precious testimony of the time when Plečnik’s Ljubljana was being created. To contrast the archival photographs, the other side of the Jakopič Promenade displays contemporary photographs by Matevž Paternoster, which unveil new perspectives of Plečnik’s artworks.

Maria Bonomi: Printmaking Forever16 Jun - 29 Oct, Jakopič GalleryAs part of the Biennial of Graphic Arts, the gallery presents an overview exhibition of one of the most important representatives of Brazilian contemporary art and culture as well as an internationally renowned artist, Maria Bonomi. Her work is, regardless of its content, deeply personal and always optimistic, filled with enthusiasm, curiosity and joy for life. Her prints are expressive, yet defined by fragility and apparent simplicity. The art language of Mara Bonomi is one of woodcuts, with an emphasis on special treatment of the three-dimensional matrix, although she also employs lithography, serigraphy and digital image manipulation. She is an advocate of communicative and collaborative art and her prints articulate intelligence and sensibility.Saturdays at 16:30 guided tours in English. Open: 10:00 - 18:00. Closed: Mondays

Zoran Mušič, the best known 20th century Slovenian-born painter and a man with more than one homeland, spent most of his life between Venice and Paris. He mostly painted landscapes, still lifes, portraits, Dalmatian donkeys and horses, trees, views of Venice, double portraits with his wife Ida, and poignant self-portraits depicting him as an old man. His visual motifs were always related to the Slovenian region of Kras and its typical scenes. He became world famous with his series of paintings We Are Not the Last, in which he relived the scenes he experienced in the Dachau concentration camp. Ljubljana’s National Gallery displays the world’s only permanent survey exhibition of Mušič’s work, which explores the entire range of the famous artist’s painting techniques. Open: 10:00 - 18:00, Thursdays 10:00-20:00. Closed: Mondays

Faraway, So Close, this year's edition of BIO, focuses on Slovenia’s main po-tential: its landscape. Curators Angela Rui and Maja Vardjan have deployed international teams of designers to the woods, the karst underground, mining areas, the plains of the Pan-nonian Basin, the Slovenian coast, and the Slovenian Alps. The projects designed and presented at BIO seek to identify the potential of places that are only a stone’s throw away from the capital, yet are excluded from current discussions on the future. The most interesting part of the biennial and the key content of the exhibition held at the Museum of Architecture and Design is therefore on display in seven venues: Grosuplje, Kočevje, Kobarid, Lendava, Trbovlje, Piran, and Ljubljana.Open: 10:00 - 18:00. Grigory Sokolov is considered to be one of the best pianists alive today. Before the 1980s, due to political situation, he did not perform much outside the Soviet Union.Completely devoted to music and unwilling to compromise his performance standards, Sokolov has for some years now exclusively been giving solo recitals. He gives deep consideration to each of his concert programmes and keeps working on it until the last moment.Programme: L. van Beethoven: Sonata No 27 in E minor, Op. 90; Sonata No 32 in C minor, Op. 111

Miroslav Krleža’s most famous drama, The Glembays, first premiered in 1929 in the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, and was an instant success, becoming one of the most performed Krleža’s dramas, both locally and internationally. The ballet production of The Glembays represents a big challenge for the choreographer and his assistants. After attending Belgrade’s Ballet School Lujo Davičo, Leo Mujić graduated from L’Ecole-atelier Rudra Béjart in Lausanne and immediately started performing as a very successful soloist in famous European dance theatres. Dedicating himself to choreography, he worked in big European and Croatian ballet theatres.
