Celle-ci tenait entre ses mains une plante qui expulsait du venin, mais le seigneur s'approcha pour scruter son armée et percevoir les intentions des Anunnaki et de Kingu.Il observe et ralenti devant Kingu l'époux de Tiamat. Et Kingu le voit et il hésite, et ses dieux compagnons ont leurs yeux soudainement brouillés quand ils voient le héros courageux.Mais Tiamat, sans tourner son cou, hurle, lance des défis et crache de ses lèvres amères : "Es-tu si important pour t'élever au dessus de moi comme dieu suprême ?"Alors le seigneur a soulevé l'ouragan, la grande arme, et il a jeté ses mots : "Pourquoi vous gonflez-vous de fierté de sorte que les fils rejettent leurs pères ? Mère de tous, pourquoi avez-vous enfanté la guerre ? Vous vous êtes hautement exaltée et avez élevé Kingu à un pouvoir illégitime. Vous lui avez donné le grade qui revenait à Anu. Vous avez maltraité les dieux mes ancêtres, vous menacez Anshar, le roi de tous les dieux. Vous avez rassemblé des forces pour la bataille, disposés les attirails de guerre. Levez-vous seule et combattons-nous, vous et moi, en combat singulier."

Quand Tiamat l'a entendu, elle a perdu ses esprits, elle a été comme possédée et a poussé des cris perçants à haute voix, ses jambes se sont agitées, elle a prononcé des maledictions, alors que les dieux de la guerre affiutaient leurs armes. Alors ils se sont rejoints : Marduk, le plus intelligent des dieux, et Tiamat, seuls dans un combat singulier.Alors la terrible Tiamat ouvrit son énorme bouche. et le seigneur lança son filet.Le seigneur a tiré son filet pour empêtrer Tiamat, et le vent Imhullu, est venu par derrière battre dans son visage. Quand elle a ouvert sa bouche pour l'engloutir, il a poussé le vent Imhullu dedans, de sorte que la bouche ne puisse plus se fermer. Et maintenant il tiré une flèche dans son ventre, qui perce l'intestin et coupe l'utérus.

Maintenant que le seigneur avait vaincu Tiamat, qu'il avait pris sa vie, il a jeté sa carcasse ; le chef a été tué, Tiamat était morte, brisée, sa bande dispersée. Ces dieux qui avaient marché près d'elle tremblent dans la terreur, et pour sauver leurs propres vies, ils ont tourné le dos au danger mais ils ont été entourés, tenu en cercle serré, et il n'y avait aucune sortie. Il a cassé leurs armes et les a jetées en l'air dans le filet ; ils se sont trouvés à l'intérieur du piège, ils ont pleuré et se sont cachés dans les coins devant la colère du dieu. Quand ils ont voulu ésister, il a mis dans les chaînes les onze monstres, la couvée de Tiamat, et tout leur armement meurtrier. Impitoyablement, il lui écrasa le crâne avec la massue, il coupa les artères et le sang a coulé sur le vent du nord aux extrémités inconnues du monde. Quand les dieux ont vu tout ceci ils ont ri bien fort, et ils lui ont envoyé des présents. Ils lui ont envoyé leurs hommages reconnaissants.

Le seigneur s'est reposé ; il a regardé fixement le corps énorme, considérant comment l'employer, que créer de la carcasse morte. C'est ainsi qu'il coupa longitudinalement le cadavre comme si c'était un poisson, avec la moitié supérieure il a construit l'arche du ciel. "Chaque mois, sans cesse, tu lui donnera la forme d'une couronne. Ensuite, revenant vers Tiamat, il lui prit sa salive et forma avec elle les nuages. Avec sa tête il produisit les montagnes et fit couler le Tigre de l'Euphrate de ses yeux. Finalement, avec ses seins il créa les grandes

montagnes et perça des sources pour que les puits donnent de l'eau.

Enfin, Marduk solidifia le sol en élevant sa luxueuse demeure et son temple, les offrant aux dieux pour qu'ils y logent lorsqu'ils assistent aux assemblées dans lesquelles ils doivent fixer les destins du monde. Par conséquent, il nomma constructions "Babylone" qui veut dire "la maison des grands dieux" (Bab-Ilu).

En terminant son oeuvre, le Seigneur fut exalté par le dieux, alors en signe de reconnaissance il leur dit: "Je vais pétrir mon sang et former des os. Je vais susciter un homme... qui se chargera du cultes des dieux, pour que ceux-ci puisse être tout à leur aise! Moi j'ai transformé astucieusement les chemins des dieux. Bien que révérés de la même façon, ils se divisèrent en deux groupes."

Ea lui répondit, en lui adressant la parole pour lui exposer un plan qui calmerait les dieux :" Qu'un de leurs frères soit livré, lui seul périra pour que l'humanité puisse être modelée. Que les grands dieux soient ici dans l'assemblée, que le coupable soit livré pour qu'ils puissent eux rester."

Marduk fit amener les Anunnaki captifs et leur demanda, sous serment d'approcher le coupable de l'insurrection en promettant la vie sauve à ceux qui déclareront la vérité. Alors les dieux accusèrent Qingu.

"C"est Quingu qui a projeté l'insurrection et a rendu Tiamat rebelle et c'est lui qui a livré bataille." Ils l'attachèrent, en le fixant devant Ea. Ils lui demandèrent de rendre compte de sa culpabilité et ils séparèrent son sang. Avec son sang ils modelèrent l'humanité. Ea obligé d'accepter, redonna leur liberté aux dieux. Ensuite Ea, le sage, créa l'humanité; il lui imposa le service envers les dieux. Cette oeuvre fut incompréhensible.

(L’assemblée ayant donné son approbation, NINTU, la Dame de la Naissance, mélangea l’argile au sang du dieu mis à mort. )

Et ainsi le Seigneur rendit leur liberté aux dieux et les divisa en trois centaines en haut et trois centaines en bas, en les constituant en tant que gardien du monde. Reconnaissants, les Anunnaki édifièrent un sanctuaire et ils élevèrent le sommet de l'esagil, et après avoir une tour à degrés ils établirent en elle une nouvelle demeure pour Marduk.

Quand les grands dieux se furent réunis ils exaltèrent le destin de Marduk et s'inclinèrent, tout en prononçant entre eux une malédiction, jurant par l'eau et l'huile de mettre la vie en danger.

"...que les têtes noires" attendent leurs dieux. Quant à nous, bien qu'on puisse l'appeler de nombreux noms; il est notre dieux ! Nous proclamons donc ses cinquante noms."

Et les étoiles brillèrent et tous les êtres crées par les dieux se réjouirent. L'humanité se reconnaissait également dans le Seigneur. Pour cela, qu'il y ait mémoire de tout ce qui est arrivé. Que les fils apprennent cet enseignement de leurs pères. Que les savants scrutent le sens du chant de Marduk qui vainquit Tiamat et parvint à régne.
