Blanket-booms are filled with PetroGuard® high capacity solidifying absorbent.

Absorbent pillows clip together to form a continuous blanket with a higher surface area than conventional round booms.

Blanket-booms will not re-release oil once absorbed as will other absorbents. (Note- heavy concentrations of floating oil should first be treated with PetroGuard® solidifying absorbent particulate).

Once heavy concentrations are removed, SheenGuard blanket- booms can be left in place to continue to remove persistent oil sheens and rainbow.

SheenGuard blanket-booms are manufactured with extra flotation and will not sink.

Blankets will remain on the surface of the water, absorbing all traces of oil, sheen or rainbow.

Absorbent BoomGuardian Super booms are manufactured to optimum specifications. Steel rings rather than rope on the ends to facilitate connecting the O-rings to the bit snap. Both inner and outer net pulled through the O-ring gives the maximum tensile strength possible. O-rings and bit snaps are fastened with clips to keep them from rotating though the rope and net. Our teardrop bit snap is easier to connect than a rounded corner rectangular bit snap. Polyester netting rather than polypropylene netting gives inherent UV resistance and more elasticity to hold its shape. Polypropylene rope gives a much greater tensile strength.

Foam Concentrates Chemguard supplies fire-fighting foam concentrates to meet a wide range of fire-fighting challenges, including industrial, marine, mining, municipal, oil, petrochemical, and transportation. Our aqueous film-forming foams (AFFFs), Class A foams, wetting agents, high-expansion foam concentrates, and protein foams are suitable for ground and air attack, creating firebreaks, use with compressed-air foam systems (CAFS), and mop-up operations.

Chemguard’s fire-fighting foams are some of the most environmentally friendly products in their class in the world. Our AFFF products have 30-70% less fluorochemical content than other UL Listed products on the market, while our alcohol-resistant aqueous film-forming foam (AR-AFFF) has the lowest and best application rate in the industry.

Independent Closed Cell Foam Floation Chambers

Containment BoomsIndependent Closed Cell Foam Floatation Cylindrical BoomsThis is a very robust boom, recommended for sheltered waters, manufactured with independent closed cell foam floatation chambers. As standard, the boom is manufactured with a continuous cylindrical shape free board, without vertical welding, and short floatation chambers (3 ft. in length) to enhance the wave and wind response of the boom. The small gap between adjacent floatation chambers increases the flexibility of the boom enabling it to be folded or rolled. It is light weight and ready to use without need for additional equipment.

As an option, the boom can be fitted with vertical weldings every 6 ft.

The boom is fitted with top tension member and a ballast chain as the bottom tension member. These components besides the highly resistant fabrics used enable the boom to withstand severe conditions due to waves, winds and currents.

As an option, reflection bands can be fitted to make the boom more visible and easier to operate at night. The boom is reinforced by double fabric layers at critical spots for increased strength and durability.

This type of boom can also work as the floating support for silt curtains deployed during dredging operations.

The boom can be stored on pallets, in crates or in containers for quick deployment.

For easy transportation to locations with limited access this boom can be stored and transported in sturdy big bags (82 ft. per big bag) fitted with 4 handles on the top corners to make loading and offloading operations quicker. The bags containing booms are stackable for optimum use of the space in trailers, working boats or warehouses.

Standard section length is 82 ft and the sections can be easily connected to the desired total length. The flexible connectors between boom sections are preferred. With this type of connectors a continuous cylindrical shape of the boom is achieved, distributing evenly the tensile stress in the fabric and avoiding failures of the boom caused by stress concentrations. Anyhow, adapters are available to match our flexible connectors to Z connectors (according ASTM F962 standard) fitted to other booms.

Inflatable BoomsThis is a very robust oil boom. The boom is inflated, section by section, by means of a back carried blower. The products are light weight and deployable without any additional equipment. Delivered in shipping bags, on pallets, in storage frames, in containers or on reels. Available sizes from 24” to 70”.

Section length is 100 ft and the sections are easily connected with a “Norwegian end connector”, standard Guardian or ASTM connectors. Each section includes 5 separated, buoyancy chambers fitted with air valves.
