    WATER QUALITY MONITORING REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP). The Department ofEnvironmental Quality (DEQ), Water Resources Division (WRD), is announcing a request forproposals for fiscal years 2015 and 2016 water quality monitoring projects. Projects will be fundedfrom the Clean Michigan Initiative-Clean Water Fund (CMI-CWF). Specifically, $300,000 isavailable for local water quality monitoring projectsand $200,000 is available for inland beachgrants. Local government and nonprofit entities are eligible for funding and are encouraged toapply either individually or as part of a group. Applicants that receive funding will be required toshare the resulting data with the DEQ. The RFP will be available online July 14, 2014, athttp://www.michigan.gov/deq/0,4561,7-135-3313_3686_3728-87366--,00.html,or you may contactDenise Page, WRD, at 517-284-5523, [email protected]. The RFP contains detailedinstructions on developing a proposal, the DEQs funding priorities, the criteria by which proposals

The morning session of the training will include information on topics suchas handling asbestos, leachate management, tipping floor safety, low-level nuclear waste,alternative daily cover (ADC) and minimizing a working face in the active area of a landfill.     DEQ COMPREHENSIVE SOIL EROSION TRAINING AND EXAMS, WARREN, MICHIGAN. TheDEQ Water Resources Division will be conducting a training and exam for individuals who have validConstruction Storm Water Operator Certificates and work for Part 91 Agencies where the individualmay have soil erosion and sedimentation control plan review and design responsibilities. Thetraining will cover the required components of a soil erosion and sedimentation control plan, the soilerosion and sedimentation control law, an overview of common best management practices for soilerosion and sedimentation control, and an exercise in plan review in design. Not all information inthe exam is covered in the training, so participants are expected to have read and understand theinformation presented in theCertified Storm Water Operator and Soil Erosion and Sedimentation

    Control Inspector/Comprehensive Manual.The exam consists of a forty question, multiple choiceexam. A score of 70% is required to pass and receive a certificate of training.
