In the last eight years, Hungry Giant has become the sustainability leader in Australia and is now offering these specially designed dehydrating systems to North America.
Hungry Giant has over fifty installations in Sydney alone at the Darling Quarter Commonwealth Bank Building and Retail Precinct, HSBC Building with 23 restaurants and nine coffee shops, State Theater (largest IMAX theater in the world), Hurstville Central Shopping Center, the very prestigious Australia Square and Rio Tinto Mining sites in W. Australia to name a few.
Hungry Giant offers seven machines that will process 121lbs up to 2400lbs in one cycle per day. One gallon of sterile condensate is emptied in the drain for every 10-12lbs of food waste processed and the remaining nutrient rich “soil amendment” can be used to replenish landscaping, golf courses etc.

So how does it compare to other organics solutions?

• 180F Degree operating temperature – kills all bacteria and pathogens inside the sealed heating chamber.
• Batch process – load the heating chamber, close hatch and push “run.”
• Water is stripped from food waste as steam – exits as sterile condensate to a sealed drain like the water from a car AC unit that drips on the ground. No BOD or TSS. Remaining 10-15% is discharged as a dry soil amendment when mixed 10:1 with soil.
• What can you put in the machine? All organics including paper napkins and un-waxed cardboard (up to 25% of the load), meat, fish, chicken and small bones (bones will come out completely dry), dairy products, veggies, fruit, bread and cakes, dried flowers, coffee grounds, rice and beans.
• What should not be put in the machine? Cans, silverware, glass, rags, whole coconuts, oyster shells and other hard shell fish.
• What happens if these items are thrown in? May cause a jam but the Hungry Giant Motor Overload Sensor will reverse direction to release the foreign object that will be discharged with remaining dry soil amendment.
