TRINITY VIEW JULY 2015 To the Saints who are in Los Osos, Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I wrote my farewell column for the June Forecast, (the newsletter of the Lompoc First UMC), last month. Now it is time to write my first column for the View. What you are reading is about my fifth start. Goodbye columns are hard to write – because it is hard to say goodbye. I’ve found that “Hello” columns are even harder. It’s easy and exciting to say, “Hello,” and to meet new friends and build a new church family. My difficulty comes in having to do it in writing before we’ve shared a smile or a cup of coffee. I’m never sure quite how to begin. I want to know all about you and for you to know all about me, but it isn’t possible to even begin in a few column inches. Maybe I’ll risk just telling you some basic biographical information. My lovely bride and I will celebrate our thirty-eighth anniversary this month. We have one grown daughter, Jennifer, who lives in Tucson Arizona. We have one furry feline daughter who was rescued a year ago. My three girls are the light of my life. For thirty-four years I have served churches in the Pacific Southwest and California Pacific Annual Conferences. I’ve traversed the conference from a “two-point” charge in rural Arizona to a multi-ethnic church in Kaneohe, Hawaii... and it seems everything in between. This is also the second time I’ve followed Rich Bolin in an appointment, (although the last time there was another appointment in between us). I could tell you about some of my hobbies, my enthusiasms, and my passions, but it seems so inadequate to type a dry list. Instead I look forward to sharing them with you while you teach me about your hobbies, your enthusiasms, and your passions. Rachel and I are looking forward to joining you in person. See you in Church, Trinity’s 2015 Income/Expense Report ENVIRONMENTAL NEWS from Pastor Mike Trinity members and friends, please turn out in good numbers for the July general meeting of People of Faith for Justice on July 23, 2015 at 6:30pm. TRINITY VIEW JULY 2015

To the Saints who are in Los Osos, Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I wrote my farewell column for the June Forecast, (the newsletter of the

Lompoc First UMC), last month.

See you in Church,

July 10th at 7:00pm

JULY BRIDGE will be Friday the 10th at 7 p.m. at Dick & Evelyn Kane’s, 640 Manzanita Drive, Los Osos. Those wanting to learn are welcome, as are those who just want to watch. At church bridge hospitality trumps expertise. We have pretty well perfected sandlot bridge! RSVP to the Kane’s 528-3990.

Music Notes Our Chancel Choir is a very welcoming organization. We especially love it when singers, whose schedules are usually too busy, choose to sing with us during the summer months.

We rehearse on Wednesday evenings, from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. Consider yourself invited!

United Methodist Women Newcomers are always welcome!

UMW Board Meeting The UMW Executive Board meets on August 31 at 1:00 P.M. in the Social Hall.

Women of the Bible Circle Women of the Bible Circle will not meet in July or August.

Book Club June 18 - 2:00pm

The Book Club will not meet in July or August.

55 Plus Lunch and Program Next Meeting in September

These adult study classes are held each Sunday at 11:30am in the Opal Room. Childcare is provided.

Following our class last year on Jesus in Film, we will expand our view and see how the film industry has treated Biblically based films throughout the decades until now. In The Bible on Film we will look at various clips of many films, discuss the history and productions of those films and compare their themes to the Bible itself. This 8-week class, taught by Jeff Manildi, starts on Sunday, July 12th after morning worship in the Opal Room.

A CELEBRATION!

Friends and members of Trinity are invited to a hosted celebration to celebrate my walk across the United States 2009-2014. The event will be held at the South Bay Community Center, Saturday, July 18th, 4-11 p.m. dinner will be served at 6.

I have invited people I met while on my walk, members of my extended family, as well as a wide variety of people who encouraged and supported me. A number of the quilts Carole created while I was walking will be on display. Hope you can come.

If you can come, let us know. Bill and Carole Fairbanks. [email protected] or just phone 528-0572.
