Carbon Offset Programme

Due to the materials used in shielding bags, they are inherently non-recyclable. In order to alleviate this, Antistat have developed the Eco-Shield range of metalised shielding bags.

For every bag sold, Antistat donate 1% to tree planting in the UK; sustaining forests and helping to reduce global CO2 emissions.

Carbon Credits

Antistat donate 1% of the revenue to allow the customer to purchase Carbon Credits through a scheme of their choice.

Eco Shield Bags

Our commitment to environmental awareness and preservation is reflected throughout our business. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our service offering and are in the process of field trialing new biodegradable antistatic bags.

In addition, we offer Carbon Offsetting to our customers who use our ECO Shield™ range of shielding bags for these Inherently non-recyclable products. A percentage of sales goes to a recognised Carbon Offsetting project resulting in a direct contribution to the environment and certificated carbon credits for our corporate clients.

Uses of Environmental Shipping Solutions

Split into cold, medium and hot water soluble films as follows:

Cold water soluble: Unit-dosing applications in the aggrochemicals sector (weedkillers, pest and insecticides, plant nutrients). Unit-dosing of pigments and other additive packages to the construction industry (concrete). The most recent addition to the list is sachet packaging of veterinary treatments to fish farms. Cold water soluble laundry bags supplied to the public and private healthcare sector enabling greater infection control.

Medium temperature soluble: Unit dosing applications as above but used in hotter and high humidity climates. Laundry bags, again used in more challenging environments.

Hot water soluble: Hospital laundry bags, where a very hot infection-control wash cycle is used. This application represents the bulk of our business. Anti-static film. We can also supply films for fruit growing and transportation applications in the Far East and environmental applications in the petrochemical industry.

Compostability / Biodegradability:

The European norm (EN13432) accreditation is required in order to use the "OK Compost" logo on any compostable product and is achieved in two parts; the first is a disintegration test carried out over a twelve week period. At the end of the twelve period there should be no more than 10% of the film visible in the slide.

Whilst cold water soluble PVOH films pass this stage of the test easily, higher temperature soluble films on the other hand must have higher levels of moisture and be subjected to a degree of agitation before they begin to disintegrate. Hence all but the cold water soluble films fail this stage of the testing.

The second stage of the test is to examine and analyse the resulting compost for plastic materials which should have been broken down into Co2 and water, forming part of the compost. The medium and hot water soluble films in a municipal organic waste recycling plant achieved excellent results. The reasons for this are that the windrows are laid out in the open air, are turned mechanically every few days to ensure an even distribution of temperature and moisture and during dry spells, water is sprayed over the whole system to maintain high moisture levels and to encourage microbial activity.
