Educational Environments

At cDh, we believe the planning of learning environments begins with student-centered design that fosters discovery, innovation, and excellence in learning. Along with these, each of our design decisions are based on learning principles that materialize in the built environment. Our passion and desire to influence the cre-ation of dynamitic and well-conceived learning spaces guides us in our practice and purpose.

We believe the effective design and integration of materials and systems enhance learning. Just as educators use communica-tion, collaboration, and technology as a tool for teaching, the built environment must also embrace technology, science, and the physical space as a flexible and collaborative tool in the education of our future leaders.

Performing Arts Environments

the performing arts present a unique opportu-nity to foster relationships, expand possibilities, encourage enrichment, and connect with lo-cal communities. cDh Partners is committed in its desire to collaborate with local school systems, stakeholders, and communities to de-velop spaces that meet the needs of today’s evolving learning and teaching environments.

the cDh Design team provides the right combination of expertise and intuitive design to respond to the changing trends of arts centers. these include integration of converg-ing technologies, flexible programmed areas, and a focus on creating intimate places. our design team provides a high level of techni-cal skill, which has the ability to guide and keep the design of a state-of-the-art project centered and on task. But we never lose sight of the initial costs, project’s budget, and the need to maximize long-term financial gains.

Athletic Environments

Athletic spaces promote an environment that elevates the energy and activity supported by the program of the institution. The benefits of these spaces are fostered in the health, recreational, and social aspects experienced by the participants.

As designers, it is our charge to create safe and healthy environments with efficient and durable materials and systems. Emerging trends that guide the designs include an increased need for flexibility of the athletic areas which allow for large team sports, multiple and varying activities, and assembly or gathering spaces within the same facility.

gathering Environments

At cDh we realized that environments for learn-ing extend far beyond the classroom. gathering spaces encourage interaction between students and faculty allowing for opportunities for collabo-ration and engagement of the community.

As a critical component to the design of educa-tional campuses, gathering spaces become active and social learning environments. they create a sense of place and community in the design of educational environments which promote outdoor classrooms, commons spaces, and lounge areas to provide opportunities for impromptu meetings, outdoor classes, and community activities.

We bring no preconceived notions of what your project should look like. instead, we listen care-fully to discover who you are and what your institution’s needs are. Each project represents an opportunity to explore a multitude of exciting possibilities. our goal then becomes to design and to build a facility that satisfies your vision, reflects your values, and empowers your mission.

We are committed to sustainable design strate-gies that demonstrate good stewardship both of your resources and of the natural environment. We recognize the importance of the long-term investments in the materials and methods that go into designing and building a high performance facility.

We have a sincere passion and commitment to our projects. We understand the importance the design has not only to you but also to the com-munity you serve. in fact, one of the most impor-tant aspects of the work we do is to impact the lives of others in a positive way.

one of the most integral parts of the design pro-cess centers on interior design. our cDh design-ers are committed to bringing life and breath to your vision whether it is the inside of a auditorium or the floor plan of a common area.

our expertise and creativity in space planning, designing interior architectural details and choos-ing materials that enhance the overall design of a project result in a space that is comfortable and enjoyable. We seek to push the level of de-sign beyond your expectations.

Along the way, we provide unique detailing that makes your project stand out as one that has been given a great deal of attention. this includes lighting, where fixtures reflect the atmo-sphere of the room and help to promote learning within an educational environment.

our approach to designing interior spaces is holistic and pushes beyond aesthetics to cre-ate comfortable, healthy environments. We are intentional in using sustainable design philoso-phies, and when it is sensible we use recycled, reclaimed materials, or materials derived from resources that are rapidly renewable.

We help our clients evaluate the current use of their site and space. our professionals conduct thorough interviews with your key leaders and stakeholders. their opinions bring insight to the design process. We also consider the demograph-ics, site related information, future programming needs and other issues, before making our recom-mendations on how to optimize the use of avail-able land or buildings.

the proposed solution can require a paradigm shift, but the cDh team stands alongside our clients to help them through decision-making. this may include the construction of a new facility or it may mean re-purposing your existing buildings. our goal is to not only solve the problems that you are facing but also to bring creative insight into the possibilities that await your educational institution.

our keen examination and straight-forward plan-ning strategy, enables us to do the very best job of addressing your present and future needs. At cDh, we partner with our clients to achieve excel-lence on all levels of building educational facilities.
