Stephen Rannekleiv is an Executive Director of Rabobank’s Food & Agribusiness Research and Advisory group. Mr. Rannekleiv joined Rabobank in 2006, and is the lead research analyst covering the wine and spirits sectors in the US.

Rabobank is a full-service financial service provider with offices around the globe, and a history of providing services to the food and agricultural sector for over 100 years. The bank maintains a network of over 80 analysts in 12 countries that continually share information creating a global view of the food and agribusiness sectors that they cover.

As an Executive Director in Rabobank’s Food & Agricultural Research and Advisory (FAR) department in New York, Stephen is responsible for researching and analyzing trends in the wine and spirits sectors. The results of his research are shared internally within the bank as well as with clients. His research has focused on a variety of topics ranging from competitive analysis of the California wine industry to analysis of industry attitudes towards the three-tier system. He plays a central role in the publication of Rabobank’s Wine Quarterly Report, which has quickly attained broad global readership.

Before joining Rabobank, Stephen worked for 8 years in Latin America supporting agricultural development projects. His understanding of agricultural dynamics and his training in value chain analysis have provided an ideal background for understanding issues facing the wine industry in particular.

Mr. Rannekleiv holds an undergraduate degree from Houghton College and an MBA from Eastern University in Pennsylvania. He currently and resides in New York with his wife and two children.

Danny Brager leads Nielsen’s Beverage Alcohol Practice and Client Service team in the United States, supporting relationships with Nielsen’s many clients in the beer, wine, and spirits industry, as well as with key industry groups and the media. In this role, Danny and his team provides business information, analysis and insights.

Danny has over 10 years of experience specific to the Beverage Alcohol industry, and close to thirty years with The Nielsen Company in both Canada and the United States, holding a variety of marketing and sales positions. He is a frequent speaker at many client and Industry events on the subject of Beverage Alcohol retail and consumer trends.

Danny holds an Honors Bachelor of Business Administration from York University in Toronto, Canada. After residing in Western Canada for most of his early years, and then moving to Toronto, he now lives in Southern California with his family.

Carman Allison serves as Director of Consumer Insights for The Nielsen Company in Canada.

Carman is responsible for creating thought leadership reports and delivering client and industry presentations. Carman shares his insights on consumer shopping, buying and media consumption behaviours and attitudes to provide CPG manufacturers and retailers with strategic visions to facilitate brand, category and retail sales growth.

Carman is often quoted in the Canadian press on consumer trends including a monthly column in Canadian Grocer.

Carman has more than 20 years of experience in the consumer research industry with The Nielsen Company, where he held various account management and analysis roles.

Rob Sands President and Chief Executive Officer

Constellation Brands, Inc.

Rob Sands joined Constellation Brands in June 1986 as general counsel overseeing the legal affairs of the company, in particular its acquisitions. In 1993, he was appointed to the position of executive vice president and general counsel. In 1998, upon acquisition of the company’s U.K. division that Sands spearheaded, he was appointed to the role of chief executive officer of Constellation International, with responsibility for oversight of this division. From early 2000 through most of 2002, he served as group president with responsibility for Canandaigua Wine Company and the U.K. Division. In December 2002, Sands was appointed to the roles of president and chief operating officer with responsibility for the company’s two divisions, Constellation Wines and Constellation Beers and Spirits. In July 2007, Sands was named President and Chief Executive Officer of the company. He is also a member of Constellation’s board of directors.

Prior to joining Constellation, Sands was an associate with the Rochester law firm of Harter, Secrest & Emery.

Sands is chairman of the board of the New York Wine and Culinary Center, a member of the board of trustees of the Rochester General Health System, a member of the board and executive committee of the Rochester Business Alliance, and a member of the board of trustees of Thompson Health.

In 2008, Sands was named an inaugural member of the Federal Reserve Bank (FED) of New York’s Upstate New York Regional Advisory Board. The 10-member board provides the FED with business insights for upstate New York.

Peter ClarkPresident

Peter Clark is one of Canada’s leading international trade strategists. He is President of Grey, Clark, Shih and Associates, Limited, an economic trade consultancy formed in 1979, specializing in international and public affairs. Mr. Clark has been involved inside and outside government with every aspect of trade policy and negotiations since 1965.

He was counsel to Canadian industry in various GATT challenges of Canadian wine and malt beverages marketing and distribution practices. He has also participated in the GATT challenge of U.S. alcoholic beverages practices dispute known as Beer II.

Mr. Clark was trade advisor to the Parliamentary Committee studying implementation of the Canada-U.S. Trade Agreement and to the Government Members of the Committee on implementation of NAFTA. He is active in NAFTA and WTO dispute settlement both as Counsel and as an Arbitrator.

Mr. Clark is a frequent media commentator and appears regularly before Parliamentary Committees, analyzing trade, investment and commercial policy issues.

Thomas Homer-Dixon

Global Visionary

Thomas Homer-Dixon is one of the best-informed and most brilliant writers on global affairs today." The Guardian

Thomas Homer-Dixon holds the Centre for International Governance Innovation Chair of Global Systems at the Balsillie School of International Affairs in Waterloo, Canada, and is a Professor in the Centre for Environment and Business in the Faculty of Environment, University of Waterloo.

He was born in Victoria, British Columbia and received his B.A. in political science from Carleton University in 1980 and his Ph.D. from MIT in international relations and defence and arms control policy in 1989. He then moved to the University of Toronto to lead several research projects studying the links between environmental stress and violence in developing countries. Recently, his research has focused on threats to global security in the 21st century and on how societies adapt to complex economic, ecological, and technological change.

His books include The Upside of Down: Catastrophe, Creativity, and the Renewal of Civilization, which won the 2006 National Business Book Award and was listed as one of the Financial Times best books in Politics and Religion for 2007. He also authored The Ingenuity Gap, which won the 2001 Governor General's Non-fiction Award, and Environment, Scarcity, and Violence, which won the Caldwell Prize of the American Political Science Association.

He lives in a small town in a rural area outside of Toronto, Canada, with his wife Sarah, son Benjamin and daughter Kate.
