Ephesians5:1-21WalkinLove

1FollowGod’sexample,therefore,asdearlylovedchildren2andwalkinthewayoflove,justasChristlovedusandgavehimselfupforusasafragrantofferingandsacrificetoGod.

3Butamongyoutheremustnotbeevenahintofsexualimmorality,orofanykindofimpurity,orofgreed,becausetheseareimproperforGod’sholypeople.4Norshouldtherebeobscenity,foolishtalkorcoarsejoking,whichareoutofplace,butratherthanksgiving.

5Forofthisyoucanbesure:Noimmoral,impureorgreedyperson—suchapersonisanidolater—hasanyinheritanceinthekingdomofChristandofGod.6Letnoonedeceiveyouwithemptywords,forbecauseofsuchthingsGod’swrathcomesonthosewhoaredisobedient.7Thereforedonotbepartnerswiththem.

WalkinLight8Foryouwereoncedarkness,butnowyouarelightintheLord.Liveaschildrenoflight9(forthefruitofthelightconsistsinallgoodness,righteousnessandtruth)10andfindoutwhatpleasestheLord.11Havenothingtodowiththefruitlessdeedsofdarkness,butratherexposethem.

12Itisshamefuleventomentionwhatthedisobedientdoinsecret.13Buteverythingexposedbythelightbecomesvisible—andeverythingthatisilluminatedbecomesalight.14Thisiswhyitissaid:

“Wakeup,sleeper,risefromthedead,

andChristwillshineonyou.”

WalkinWisdom15Beverycareful,then,howyoulive—notasunwisebutaswise,16makingthemostofeveryopportunity,becausethedaysareevil.17Thereforedonotbefoolish,butunderstandwhattheLord’swillis.18Donotgetdrunkonwine,whichleadstodebauchery.Instead,befilledwiththeSpirit,

19speakingtooneanotherwithpsalms,hymns,andsongsfromtheSpirit.SingandmakemusicfromyourhearttotheLord,20alwaysgivingthankstoGodtheFatherforeverything,inthenameofourLordJesusChrist.21SubmittooneanotheroutofreverenceforChrist..

then they will learn the way of faith…

If our faith does not transform our lives to reflect Jesus Christ, no one will listen to us. If we do not find creative ways both to point to & exhibit the radical, shocking, & subversive love of Christ, no one will pay any attention…
