About This DocumentThis document presents the recommended steps to build a typical Oracle Essbase developmentenvironment on a single server running Microsoft Windows. A typical Essbase developmentenvironment comprises the following products:

l Oracle Essbase

l Oracle Essbase Studio

l Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office

l Oracle Essbase Administration Services

l Required products including Oracle Database, Oracle WebLogic Server, and Oracle HTTPServer

Deployment Requirements

Server

Other Softwarel A program, such as 7-Zip or WinZip, to extract the contents of media packs.

l .NET Framework 3.5.1 and Microsoft Office (Office 2010 or later ) to support Smart View

User AccountUse a local Windows user account, for example, epmrapid_user, that satisfies theserequirements. This account is referred to as the deployment account in this document:

l The deployment account is a member of the Administrators group on the server.

l The following local security policies are assigned to the deployment account either directlyor by granting them to the Administrators group:

m Act as part of the operating system

m Bypass traverse checking

m Log on as a batch job

m Log on as a service

l User account control is disabled for the deployment account.

The password that you select for this account will be used as the password for Oracle DatabaseAdministrator, Oracle Database User, WebLogic Administrator, and EPM Administrator. Thispassword is referred to as the deployment password throughout this document.

The deployment password must conform to the following guidelines:

l Contain at least one uppercase letter

l Contain at least one numeral

l Be at least eight characters long

l Contain no special characters

An example of an acceptable deployment password is 1Rapidepm.

Verifying Local Security Policy Assignments

ä To verify that local security policies are assigned to the deployment account:

1 Log on to the server using the deployment account.

2 On the server, click Start, then Administrative Tools, and then Local Security Policy.

3 In Local Security Policy, expand Local Policies, and then select User Rights Assignment.

4 Verify that the security setting for the policies highlighted in the following illustration includes theAdministrators group. Double-click the security setting of the policy to view its assignments.

Disabling User Account Control

ä To turn off user account control:

1 Log on to the server using the deployment account.

2 On the server, click Start, and then Control Panel.

3 In Control Panel, click User Accounts, and then User Accounts.

4 In Make Changes to User Accounts, click Change User Account Control settings.

5 Drag the user account control slider to Never Notify.

6 Click OK.

Server NameYou need to know your server name to complete the deployment process. You can determinethe name of your server by entering hostname in a command prompt. The name of your serveris referred to as the HostName throughout this document.

Deployment ProcessThe deployment process involves the following steps and takes approximately three hours:

l Step 1: Downloading Installation Files (approximately 20 minutes)

l Step 2: Installing and Configuring Oracle Database Express Edition (approximately 10minutes)

l Step 3: Installing and Configuring EPM System(approximately 50 minutes)

Step 1: Downloading Installation Files

ä To download media packs from Oracle E-Delivery website:

1 Create two folders named EPM_rapid_downloads and EPM_rapid_unzipped on your server.The file path should not contain spaces.

2 Download Oracle Database 11.2 Express Edition for Windows x32 into EPM_rapid_downloads.

a. Using a browser, go to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/express-edition/downloads/index.html.

b. Select Accept License Agreement.

c. Click Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 for Windows x32.

d. In Sign In, enter your user name and password, and then click Sign In.

e. Save OracleXE112_Win32.zip into EPM_rapid_downloads.

3 Download Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System part numbers intoEPM_rapid_downloads.

a. Using a browser, connect to http://edelivery.oracle.com.

b. On Oracle Software Delivery Cloud, click Sign In/Register.

c. In Sign In, enter your Oracle Software Delivery Cloud user name and password, andthen click Sign In.

d. On Terms & Restrictions, read and accept the Trial License and Export Restrictionsagreements, and then click Continue.

e. On Media Pack Search, complete these steps:

i. In Select a Product Pack, select Oracle Enterprise Performance ManagementSystem.

ii. In Platform, select Microsoft Windows X64 (64-bit).

iii. Click Go.

iv. From Results, select Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (11.1.2.2.0) MediaPack for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit).

v. Click Continue.

f. Download the following part number archives to EPM_rapid_downloads.

l EPM System 11.1.2.2.0 for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) (Part 1)

l EPM System 11.1.2.2.0 for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) (Part 2)

l EPM System 11.1.2.2.0 for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) (Part 3)

l EPM System 11.1.2.2.0 for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) (Part 4)

l EPM System 11.1.2.2.0 for Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit) (Part 6)

l EPM System Release 11.1.2.2.0 Client Installers for Microsoft Windows

4 Using a program, for example 7-Zip, extract the contents of the downloaded Oracle Database and EPMSystem product media packs into EPM_rapid_unzipped.

You will be warned about overwriting some existing files. Select Yes.

Step 2: Installing and Configuring Oracle DatabaseExpress Edition

ä To install and configure Oracle Database:

1 Using Windows Explorer, navigate to EPM_rapid_unzipped/DISK1, and then double-clicksetup.exe to launch the installer.

2 In Welcome, click Next.

3 In License Agreement, select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and then click Next.

4 In Choose Destination Location, click Next.

5 In Specify Database Passwords, enter the deployment password in Enter Password and ConfirmPassword, and then click Next.

6 In Summary, click Install.

7 If the following error is displayed, click OK.

8 In InstallShield Wizard Complete, click Finish.

9 Create database user epmrapid_user.

a. Access the database as SYSDBA.

i. Select Start, then All Programs, then Oracle Database 11g Express Edition, and thenRun SQLCommand Line.

ii. In Run SQLCommand Line console, enter the following:

connect SYS as SYSDBA

iii. Enter the deployment password when prompted.

b. Enter the following command to create epmrapid_user. Remember to replaceDEPLOYMENT_PWD with your deployment password:

create user EPMRAPID_USER identified by "DEPLOYMENT_PWD";

c. Grant CONNECT and RESOURCE roles, and CREATE SESSION and CREATE VIEWprivileges to epmrapid_user by entering the following command:

grant RESOURCE,CONNECT,CREATE SESSION,CREATE VIEW to EPMRAPID_USER;

Step 3: Installing and Configuring EPM SystemThis process takes approximately 50 minutes.

ä To install EPM System files:

1 In Windows Explorer, navigate to the EPM_rapid_unzipped folder, and double-clickinstallTool.cmd.

2 In EPM System Installer, select a language, and click OK.

3 In Welcome, verify that your system has passed all prerequisite checks, and then click Next.

4 In Destination, click Next.

5 In Installation Type, click Next.

6 In Product Selection, complete these steps:

a. In Product Selection, remove the selection (uncheck) from Uncheck All, and then selectthe following components to install.

l The following Foundation Components under Foundation Services:

m Foundation Services Web Applications

m Static Content Files

m WebLogic Application Server

l The following Essbase components:

m Essbase Administration Services Web Application

m Essbase Studio Server

m Essbase Server

b. Click Next.

7 In Confirmation, click Next.

8 In Progress, monitor the installation status.

9 In Summary, click Configure.

10 In Oracle Instance, click Next to use the default values to create an EPM Oracle instance.

11 In the database configuration screen, enter the following information, and then click Next. Use defaultvalues for all remaining fields and selections.

l Service Name or SID––Enter XE.

l User Name––Enter epmrapid_user.

l Password––Enter the deployment password.

12 In component configuration, click Next to configure the selected products.

13 In Configure Common Settings, click Next to use the default values.

14 In Configure Database, click Next.

15 In Deploy to Application Server - Specify WebLogic Domain Information, enter the following values, andthen click Next. Use the default values in the remaining fields.

l Administrator Password––Enter the deployment password.

l Confirm Administrator Password––Reenter the deployment password.

16 In Deploy to Application Server: Oracle WebLogic, click Next to use the default selections.

17 In Essbase Studio – location for sample and customer data source text files, click Next to use the defaultvalues.

18 In Configure Essbase Server, select a language in Set the language to be used by Essbase(ESSLANG), and then click Next.

19 In Configure Web Server, click Next to use the default values.

20 In Oracle Configuration Manager Registration, uncheck I wish to receive security updates via my OracleSupport, and then select Next.

21 In Email Address Not Specified, click Yes.

22 In Set Shared Services Admin User and Password, enter the deployment password in Password andRe-type Password, and then click Next.

23 In Confirmation, click Next to initiate the deployment process.

The deployment process takes approximately 20 minutes.

24 In Summary, click Finish.

25 Install Essbase Studio Console:

a. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to epm_rapid_unzipped/EssbaseStudio.

b. Double-click EssbaseStudioConsole.exe.

c. In the Installation Wizard, select a language, and then click OK.

d. Click Next on all installation wizard screens.

e. In Ready to Install the Program, click Install.

f. In InstallShield Wizard Completed, click Finish.

26 Start EPM System services. On your server, select Start, then All Programs, then Oracle EPM System,then Foundation Services, and then Start EPM System.

27 Confirm that processes are running by viewing Windows services.

a. On your server, select Start, and then Run.

b. In Open, type services.msc, and then click OK.

c. In Services, verify that the Hyperion and Oracle services startup status match thoseindicated in the following screen shot:

28 Install Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office.

a. Using Windows Explorer, navigate to epm_rapid_unzipped/SmartView.

b. If you have Microsoft Office 2010, 32 bit version installed, double-clickSmartView.exe. If you have Microsoft Office 2010, 64 bit version installed,SmartView-64.exe.

c. In the Installation Wizard, select a language, and then click OK.

d. Click Next on all installation wizard screens.

e. In Ready to Install the Program, click Install.

f. In InstallShield Wizard Completed, click Finish.

29 Verify that Essbase Domain components are running. Select Start, then All Programs, then Oracle EPMSystem, then Foundation Services, then epmsystem1, and then EPM System Diagnostic.

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System runs diagnostic scripts. Diagnostic Testresults are displayed in your browser.

30 Review the diagnostics report and verify that all deployed products have passed the tests.

31 Verify that you can access Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Workspace.

a. Select Start, then All Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Workspace, and thenWorkspace URL.

b. On the Logon screen, enter:

l User Name—Enter admin.

l Password—Enter the deployment password.

c. Click Log On.

32 Verify that you can access Oracle Essbase Studio Console.

a. Select Start, then All Programs, then Oracle EPM System, then Essbase, then EssbaseStudio, and then Essbase Studio Console.

b. On the Logon screen, enter the following information, and then select OK.

l Server—Enter HostName.

l User Name—Enter admin.

l Password—Enter the deployment password.

33 Verify that you can access Administration Services Console.

a. Go to http://HostName:9000/easconsole/console.html.

b. In Locale country, select a locale.

c. Click Launch to download Administration Services Console.

d. Click Run to start Administration Services Console.

e. On the Logon screen, enter the following information, and then click OK.

l User Name—Enter admin.

l Password—Enter the deployment password.
