    abStract1

    This research attempts modelling equilibrium real exchange ratefor Albanian currency. For high-growth economies, factors likeBalassa-Samuelson effect and terms of trade, referring to internaland external equilibrium in an economy, play a substantial role inguiding equilibrium RER. This research relies on a BEER approach tomodel a long-run relationship between RER, a Balassa-Samuelsonterm, terms of trade and net foreign assets, as well as real interestrate differential, sticking to few variables considering that the sampleof 13 years is critically small for the method used. BehaviouralEquilibrium Exchange Rate (BEER) approach is a statistical modelthat offers a feasible alternative to equilibrium exchange rate,

    though at the disadvantage of lacking the macroeconomic balancenormative. Findings suggest that terms of trade and relative priceshave the greatest impact to relatively affect real exchange rate,while real interest rate differential and net foreign assets have onlya marginal effect. Also, it is real exchange rate and relative priceratio that adjust to restore equilibrium, once the system is subjectto a shock.
