Redefining the energy landscape: digital innovation as key enabler for the energy transition
Digital innovation changes the way we live, work, interact and
communicate, and creates the foundation for a new industrial
revolution. Digitisation and digital innovation, combined with
the political focus on an efficient and competitive, low-carbon
economy, requires a complete re-invention of the energy
industry. Join us at the fifth annual Erasmus Energy Forum,
which focuses on redefining the energy landscape and digital
innovation as one of the key enablers for the transition.
Business Day is on Wednesday 18 May, and Science Day on
Thursday 19 May. You will explore:
decarbonising the energy system in an interconnected and
digital world
digitised port and data-driven industry as enablers for
a sustainable industrial energy system
new business models based on digitisation that empower
customers in smart new ways
electric mobility and big data: new services and business
models
big data and digital innovation enabling flexibility in
energy markets and trading
policy and political perspective on redefining the energy
landscape and digital innovation agenda.
Renewable energy solutionsLocal generation of energy based on wind and or solar is
providing the basis for a more sustainable energy system
and industrial clusters can increase their energy efficiency
by more intense collaboration. This requires increasing
digitisation and sharing of data. A variety of new industry,
new dynamics are profoundly going to change the interaction
with customers, and business models need to be adapted.
Can governments and policymakers align the legislative
frameworks in a timely fashion? Discover more at the
Erasmus Energy Forum 2016 in May 2016.
Who participates? The Erasmus Energy Forum is targeted at policy makers,
business (incumbents and start-ups) and academia. The
Forum is relevant for managers working in the energy industry
or responsible for procurement of energy for large end-users
in industries such as supply chain and logistics, plus all kinds
of manufacturing, high-tech and ICT, automotive, chemicals
and finance and investment.
The programmeThe Erasmus Energy Forum 2016 will take place over two
days and includes presentations from top executives and
leading researchers, forthright Q&A sessions, wide-ranging
panel discussions and in-depth paper presentations, poster
sessions and a demonstration marketplace. Wednesday
18 May is Business Day for business presentations and
debate, and Thursday 19 May is Science Day for academic
and research presentations. This years event is hosted in
partnership with the Port of Rotterdam. Conference Chairman
is Professor Wolf Ketter, Director of the Erasmus Centre for
Future Energy Business. He says: The beauty of the Forum is the breadth of its speakers. We will have presentations, speakers and debate from every perspective; from the port perspective, from consumer behaviour, from energy producers, from industrial users, start-ups, from research and from politics.

Redefining the energy landscape: digital innovation as key enabler for the energy transition
ERASMUSenergyFORUM2016
Forum goals The annual Erasmus Energy Forum is unique in that it brings together stakeholders to discuss the future of energy, and energy of the future. Our first four annual events, from 2012 untill 2015, brought together representatives from a wide range of industries, academia and politics in front of large and influential audiences. It is rare that speakers representing so many parts of the industry the grid, generators, IT, politicians and academics as well as such forward-thinking major consumers such as Port of Rotterdam are able to co-operate, discourse and compare knowledge in a public forum.
We aim to establish a pan-European community of the future energy landscape, so the 2016 Erasmus Energy Forum has the following goals: develop relationships between participants of the future energy landscape and users set up a platform for exchange of expert information and best practices explore models of alternative resources, resource sharing and storing based on digital innovation define ways to increase energy efficiency and efficient allocation of resources. The Erasmus Energy Forum is hosted by Erasmus Centre for Future Energy Business, Rotterdam School of Management.
Programme Science Day 19 May 2016Woudestein Campus Erasmus University, RotterdamThis academic part of the Erasmus Energy Forum presents in-depth scientific
work about using energy informatics and management to encourage energy
efficiency in city and port environments. We invite experts and internationals,
not only academics but also practitioners from companies. Science day is
moderated by Dr Ksenia Koroleva and Dr Arthur Carvalho of Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University
