“Victor Anestin” Astronomical Observatory Website

Webmap Sketch

• The background will be a settled, blue & black tinted – starry sky with a centered Ursa Major constellation

• The five upper stars of the constellation will represent buttons which direct the visitors to the website’s pages. The stars will expand (using a hover function) to a white circle, showing the pages’ titles – Home, About Us, Activities, Useful Information and Contact in this order.

Website ”Home” Page Sketch

• The background consists of an interchangeable picture of the institution, with the future background versions positioned in a column on the right side of the page. There will be a total of four periodically-changing images.

• The “Home” title will have a dimension of 50 px, with a white, 25 px, Palatino font.

• Underneath the title there will be an inspirational quote by Victor Anestin.

*The titles and the writing will maintain their specified characteristics through the site*In the bottom left corner of each page there will be a “Mini Earth Button” which links all the websites’ pages to the Websites’ Map


Website ” About Us” Page Sketch

• The background will be a smoothing, purple-blue-black tinted cosmic sky.

• Beneath the title there will be two paragraphs: one containing information about Victor Anestin(along with picture of him) ; one consisting of a brief history of the institution (along with a suggestive picture of it)

*Except for the Website Map and the Home Page, the background will remain the same throughout the website, in order to keep the soothing simplicity of the design


Website “Activities” Page Sketch

• On this page there will be three pictures of the institution, the friendly staff and the audience participating at different events.

• Underneath each of the pictures there will be a column of information: two about the facilities of the complex and one with the activities and events organized at the institution.


Website “Useful Information” Page Sketch

• This page will show an innovative, yet schematic form of the Solar System, informing the website’s visitors about the institutions’ schedule.

• Using a hover function, the day specified in each of the planets (and also in the star) will change into its specific schedule.


Website “Contact” Page Sketch

• Here visitors can leave short messages (questions, impressions…) to the staff members, leaving their “Name” and “Email” address.

• The visitors can also find the precise address of the institution on the right side of the page and also a city map (underneath the address) for a better orientation.


Website’s Logo Sketch

• The logo is made up of the sun and the moon, the 2 most important components of our Solar System. They are surrounded by our galaxy - the Milky Way (which is drawn in a minimalist manner) to highlight the unknown of the universe. The aim of our logo is to convince the people who come at the Observatory not to limit themselves to what they can see day by day.

• It is positioned at the top left corner of the website’s page.

• With the help of the banner, we want to prove that in order to discover the universe, you need to go back in

time and find your long lost, childish curiosity.

The Brief Version of the Task

• We had to work together in order to create project consisting of a proposal of an Website for an institution of our choice;

• The first part of the project had to consist of the Website Sketches (Website Map, Home, About Us, Activities, Useful Information, Contact, Logo, Banner and Link), each presented in different slides;

• The second part of the project had to consist of a brief presentation of the role played by the project participants and also the tasks they’ve performed throughout the project, along with some feedback from their perspectives;

• In this project we had to include some compulsory information and also a brief presentation of the task;
