Official Meeting: Agenda

1. Outline of Turkish Education.

Social/secular state.

Pre-school 36-72 months – about 5,000 public places (3,000 private) – 24,000 preschool

classes.

12 year compulsory education

At 6 years old have to start primary school

2 types of middle school – general and religious; religious schools have more

importance

35 classes per week – extra classes can be attended at weekend for those who chose it

– teachers paid for additional classes.

High schools can be general or technical/scientific/religious/fine arts/vocational – have

to pass an exam to get in to a specific high school; if don’t pass go to a general high

school.

175 universities in Turkey. 104 are public and 71 private. Language taught in is mostly

English. Don’t pay so much for public universities.

Distance Education – can learn at home and take exams.

Course books are distributed free of charge at the beginning of every school year.

Same book for every school.

Fatih project: technological project – now 97% of schools have the internet/smart

boards/wi fi through funding.

DynEd computer based language teaching programme which can be reached

everywhere from primary to high school.

E-okul management system/registration system and parent notification system

throughout Turkey.

eba education network system.

2. Presentation of nature book from Romania.

Report presented by each country centring on achievements so far.

3. FUTURE MOBILITY DATES DISCUSSED:

SPAIN: 1st – 5th April 2019

POLAND: 14th – 18th October 2019

GREECE: 4th – 8th May 2020

UK: CVJS 22nd – 26th June 2020 (last meeting over the 3 year period)

4. ARTS WORKSHOPS

- Using marbling techniques to create pictures.

- Using story cubes to invoke creativity in story writing. Creating a picture or story map from the cubes and then

retetelling the story either individually or as part of a group.

Presentations of Teams: Activities so far achieved:

1. On the Blog, each country should show how achieved activities:

UK CVIS:

GB explained that she had reorganized Blog in September;

Uploaded traditional songs used in assemblies;

Traditional dance in the form of country dancing;

National poetry day and science days.

GREECE: maths and science days to go on Blog, however, Erasmus corner, Erasmus Day,

the study of a Greek artist and skyping other country completed.

UK CVJS:

Nature book completed and my school, my canvas;

Science day with dunking biscuits investigation across the whole school;

ROMANIA: completed – nature book given out.

POLAND: on poetry day chose different poets to learn about, learnt in English and Polish.

Nature books completed by different classes in different ways (7-16 years old);

looked at leaves and animals, went to bison reserve, national park and museum (flora

and fauna). Made posters/leaflets/tourist guides – all on Blog. On-going, continue to

take part in activities.

Their Polish song and dance not typically traditional but as they live by the sea, sea

shanties particular to them.

No science day yet –have ideas for November – looking to invite games designer or

architect.

TURKEY: my school/my canvas completed.

Erasmus retreat within school;

Share with the local press/face book/social media every mobility;

Turkish national agencies informed of mobilities;

Celebrated Erasmus day in Anamur 12/10/18;

New gmail address;

Arts competition – subject being The Europe in my Dreams;

Developing curriculum (imagination and creativity) – especially through arts and

crafts;

Lack in project: not enough work on E-twinning (will take place on Wednesday);

Pastoral care important;

Nature in kindergarten – visit cultural and historical sites near Anamur;

Grow own strawberry plants to eat fruit in April;

Recycling – bought old tyres for the children to paints and use as planters for flowers

Use shells and stones in crafts;

Drama;

Science day experiment candle/oxygen and volcano;

Charity walk for cancer funds; children donated pocket money;

2. GB (CVIS): discussed what had to be done before meet again in Spain:

To exchange how celebrate Christmas;

On-line video cards;

On-line quizzes concerning traditions of the countries;

UK to report to agency in December (different times for reporting for different countries);

To share traditional songs during skype – countries to arrange skyping at Christmas to share.

GB to email dates. December 18th UK with Greece suggested.

Carry on with science and maths days/investigations;

pdf. to go on Blog along with videos and photos of activities;

Web 2.0 Tools and E-twinning training and attendance certificates:

Shown how to register and log-in to E-twinning site.

Shown how to use Plickers application – ask questions, use phone to read answers.

Shown how to create a Christmas card on-line.

Actions:

Staff to disseminate learning to staff on return to school

Action Plan to be rolled out to develop pupils and staff’s cultural knowledge and understanding

Senior Management Team to plan cultural opportunities using resources uploaded on the blog

and shared during the mobility

Senior Management Team to evaluate the impact of visit on teaching and learning and

feedback to staff

Expected Impact:

Staff and pupils will have an improved cultural knowledge and understanding of the world
