TheRBpullingtool(RbodywithaBcore)pullsOtisB,C,and

Wlockmandrelassembliesandmandrelassemblieswithfull

relativemotion.

Shouldthepullingtoolnotbeabletoretrievethedownhole

tool,itcanbereleasedfromtheshingnecksoitmaybe

broughtoutofthewell.Theshearpincanbeshearedwith

repeatedseverejarring.Oncesheared,thecylinderspring

forcesthecoretomoveup.Thisreleasesthepullingtool

dogs.

Oncethelipsofthepullingtooldogsrelease,theERBcanbe

removedfromtheholeandtheshearpinreplaced.

Operation(Latching/Shearing/Redressing)

WhentheERBpullingtoolslidesovertheshingneckthatis

toberetrieved,thetool-stringweightcompressesthedog

springsforcingthedogsoutastheyslideupthebeveled

groovesoflowerskirttolatchonsh.

Oncetheinnerangeofthepullingtooldogspassthe

bottomangeoftheshingneckthedogspringtension

returnsdogstothebottomofbeveledgroovesofthelower

skirt.

WhenthejarringimpacthasshearedtheERBpullingtool,

thecorespringtensionpushesthecoreup,raisingthedogs

whichslideupthebeveleddoggroovestothereleased

position.

Tore-pintheERBPullingTool,rotateshearpinretaineruntil

looseendsoftheshearpinfallout.Withtheuseofacore

extractor,tocompressthecorespringthecoreispulled

downinthepullingtooluntiltheshearpinholeslineup.

Redressing(Re-pinning)

Shearedpiecesofthepinareremovedandanewpinis

installed.

Rotatingtheshearpinretainer1/4turncompletesthere-

pinningofthetool.

Precautions

Whenservicinglookfordamagedorcrackedparts.

Althoughtheylooksimilarataglance2"and21/2"nominal

sizepullingtooldogscannotbeinterchanged.The21/2"

areslightlylongerandthickeratthebottomedge,andif

usedina2"pullingtoolthedogswillnotreleasewhenthe

pinhasbeensheared.
