Villa Mairea
As a vacation hom

arkku, Finland it has 8000 sq ft of habitable space and a vast yard w
ith a pool and cabana. The w

Since the tem

The broad outdoor is home to an organically shaped pool w

A large balcony spans around the master bed, w

Donald Judd’s “The Block”
Judd’s commitment to permanent installations of art lead him to discover Marfa, Texas and all of the potential it had to offer as a destination to display his and other colleague's work.
Judd worked tirelessly to ensure each detail of the art and the way it was viewed was controlled. His dedication lead to many to travel to the remote town of Marfa to experience the work as it was intended
Proposed Site
Chinati FoundationRenovated by Judd, this site is home to many works of art by artists invited by Judd to install their work in a permanent environment.
This site, situated adjacent to Judd’s Block allows for an unique experience for an Artists Retreat. Bounded by train tracks, a ravine, and industrial buildings, this site offered an interesting landscape capable of being carved into.
With Judd’s complex art as a neighbor the site gave itself to develop a deeper understanding of an artist’s process as they create. The intention behind this is to show views an inclusibe idea of what goes into art, how it is manufactured anall in the relation to a finished project

Josephine Baker's Homebalancing between public and private spaces
Fall 2013|Doyle
Details developing a house for performer Josephine Baker which provides both a home for her and destination for her fans while being centered around an indoor pool
Personal Approach to give Baker a break from the spotlight and provide her with ready available inspiration by replacing the pool with an aquarium and placing personal pools in areas which the public cannot view the aquarium to provide inspiration to Baker and to show visitors an idea of what inspires Baker
