The Laws of Migration1. Most migrants only move for a short distance. (But
people that do move a long distance usually settle in cities)
2. People from rural areas move more than people from cities
3. Females migrate more than males and young adults are more likely to move than whole families.
4. Each migrant flow produces a corresponding counter-flow
5. Large towns/cities grow more by migration increases rather than natural increase
6. All migration occurs in waves 7. The main causes of migration are economic factors
