Overview Step 1 Shut down the unit.[Caution! Simply turning the printer power switch off can damage the printer�s hard drive.] See page 4.

Step 2 If the finisher is installed, remove it from the unit. See page 4.

Step 3 Disconnect the power cords. See page 4.

Step 4 Disconnect the cables. See page 5.

Step 5 Raise the scanner shelf. See page 5.

Step 6 Remove the printer.See page 6.

Step 7 Remove the scanner.See page 6.

Step 8 Unpack the new stand.See page 7.

Step 9 Disassemble and pack up the old stand.See page 7.

Step 10Assemble the new stand. See page 8.

Step 1 Shut Down the Unit.1. Press and hold the printer�s SHUTDOWN/RESTART

button until Shutdown appears on the printer display panel.

2. Turn the printer off.

3. Turn the scanner off.

Step 2 If the Finisher Is Installed, Remove It.

1. Disconnect the inverter power cord from the power outlet.

2. Disconnect the inverter cable from the printer.

3. Push back on the release lever and slide the finisher/inverter out.

4. Remove the two screws holding the finisher/inverter to the printer: keep them handy for reinstalling the finisher once the stand is swapped out.

5. Slide the finisher away from the printer

Step 3 Disconnect the Power Cords.

1. Disconnect the main power cord from the outlet and from the power strip.

2. Remove the printer and scanner power cords from the power strip.

3. Remove the power strip from the side of the scanner stand. Be sure to keep the screws for installing the power strip on the new stand.

Step 4 Disconnect the Cables.

1. Remove the DCD cable clips from the top and side of the stand.

2. Remove the DCD cable lines from the scanner.

3. Remove the DCD cable lines from the printer.

4. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from the network, then from the printer.

Step 5 Raise the Scanner Shelf.

Push down on the release handle to raise the scanner shelf.

Step 6 Remove the Printer from the Stand

1. Remove the thumbscrews attaching the printer to the stand.

2. Pull the printer away from the stand.

Step 7 Remove the Scanner from the Stand.

1. Disconnect the power supply cable from the back of the scanner.

NEVER ATTEMPT TO RAISE OR LOWER THE SHELF WITHOUT THE SCANNER BOLTED TO IT.

2. Remove the scanner power supply from the back of the stand and set it aside.

3. Remove the 4 screws that hold the scanner to the scanner platform.

4. Remove the scanner and set it aside.

Step 8 Unpack the New Stand.

Unpack the box containing the new stand. You should have (see page 1):

• two legs• the stand frame with posts• the stand platform• a packet of hardware• two instruction bookletsSet the new stand components aside while you perform the next step.

Step 9 Disassemble and Pack Up the Old Stand.

1. Remove the locking plate and cable:

a. Cut the tie wrap securing the cable to the stand.

b. Unscrew the locking plate.

Important!Keep the stand packing materials handy. You will use the packing materials from the new stand to ship the old stand back.

c. Press down on the release plate and maneuver the locking plate off the handle key.

d. Back the plate/cable out.

2. Remove the four screws at the back of the shelf, then lift the shelf off the stand.

3. Unfasten the leg bolts and remove the legs from the back of the stand.

4. Use the packing materials from the new stand to pack up the old stand and place it in the box, then tape the box closed.

5. Return the old stand to Oki Data promptly, using the return airbill sent to you.

Step 10 Assemble the New Stand.

1. Attach the legs with casters to either end of the frame, using the eight leg bolts.

2. Turn the stand over on its legs. Place the foam bumpers in the brackets and attach the two brackets to the stand using the medium screws (two per bracket).

NEVER ATTEMPT TO RAISE OR LOWER THE SHELF WITHOUT THE SCANNER BOLTED TO IT. Without the weight of the scanner on it, the shelf could rise rapidly when released, potentially causing severe injury.

3. Unpack the plate lock mechanism.

4. Place the scanner shelf on the frame and secure it in place using four of the medium screws.

6. Hold the plate lock mechanism with the flat plates facing the inner side wall of the shelf (cables facing the outer side wall) and begin to feed it into the channel between the walls.

Important!Do not lower the shelf until you have placed and secured the scanner on the shelf.

Important!Make sure the plate lock mechanism cables are not twisted or kinked.

7. Pull the safety lever (1) back and hold it while feeding the plate (2) through the channel.

8. First person: pivot the release handle (1) on the side of the stand down and hold it there. Second person: hold the safety lever (2) back and maneuver the square hole in the plate lock mechanism (3) toward the handle key (4) inside the shelf.

9. Rotate the release handle back and forth while moving the hole in the plate lock until the handle key (1) is firmly seated in the hole.

10. Secure the plate lock mechanism with the two plate lock mechanism screws.

11. Secure the plate lock cabling to the hole in the shelf using one of the tie wraps provided with the stand.

12. Attach the power strip to the lower left side (viewed from the front) of the scanner stand.

Step 11 Install the Scanner.

1. Place the scanner on the shelf, making sure the feet on the scanner engage the four holes on the shelf.

2. Secure the scanner to the shelf using four of the medium screws:

a. First screw, right front: Pull back the safety lever (a, underneath the shelf) to expose the hole in the shelf. Insert one medium screw up through the hole and into the scanner, then tighten the screw (1).

b. Remaining three screws: Attach as follows: left front (2), left rear (3), and right rear (4).

3. Attach the scanner power supply to the keyhole inside the back of the stand.

4. Connect the power supply cable to the back of the scanner.

5. Connect the scanner power supply cable to the power strip.

6. Attach the DCD cable lines to the back of the scanner.

7. Feed the DCD cable between the scanner and the stand, then secure the DCD cable to the top back of the shelf using one of the cable clips and one of the medium screws

Step 12 Reinstall the Printer and Connect it into the System

1. Move the printer back toward the stand.

2. Connect the printer power cord to the power strip on the side of the stand.

3. Use the thumbscrews to attach the printer to the bumper brackets on either side of the stand.

4. Connect the DCD cable lines to the printer (left side as viewed from the front).

5. Secure the DCD cable to the left side of the stand (above the power strip) using one of the cable clips and one of the medium screws.

Step 13 If Appropriate, Reinstall the Finisher.

1. Attach the guard rail on the inverter stand to the printer using the 2 screws you removed earlier.

2. Push the finisher against the printer until the prongs on the printer brackets fit into the holes in the finisher.

3. Connect the inverter cable to the printer.

4. Connect the inverter power cable to the power supply on the side of the stand.

Step 14 Finish the Installation

1. Press on the release handle to lower the scanner shelf.

2. Plug the Ethernet cable into the printer, then into the network.

3. Insert the main power cord into the power strip, then connect it to a suitable 120-volt grounded outlet.

4. Turn on the printer and the scanner.

NOTEIf you need to, turn the levellers (!) on either side of the finisher to raise or lower it so the holes and prongs align properly. Make sure the finisher is level.

TO PREVENT ANY POSSIBLE CRUSHING OF FINGERS, KEEP YOUR HANDS AWAY FROM THE POSTS AT THE BACK OF THE SCANNER STAND WHEN MOVING THE SCANNER SHELF DOWN.
