ESTAR

The Verb Estar

Estar is an IRREGULAR verb.

It means “to be” in English.

It does NOT follow the pattern of REGULAR

-AR VERBS.

The Verb ESTAR

In writing, be sure to use the accent mark on all forms except the yo and nosotros forms.

It ALSO means “to be” in English.

¡OJO!ESTAR and SER can not be

interchangables. The meaning of the sentence will change. It is not the same to say:

Yo estoy loca.

Yo soy loca.
