• STUDENT INSURANCE FORMS: For your convenience, Sun West School Division

has made arrangements for families to voluntarily purchase student accident insurance through the Kids Plus Accident Insurance program, underwritten by Industrial Insurance and Financial Services Inc. Kids Plus Accident Insurance offers protection against the unexpected costs of injury from accidents, and is especially valuable for families who: - do not have medical or dental plans, - have limited plans, as it may help supplement health and dental benefits, or - have active children who enjoy sports and outdoor activities. For complete plan details and registration please visit www.kidsplus.ca

• STUDENT HANDBOOKS - A copy will be given to the youngest and/or only child (in grade 1 - 6) in each family and to ALL grade 7 - 12 students. Please take a moment to read this over. (The handbook is posted on the school website as well.)

• POWERSCHOOL PARENT PORTAL –The Power School Parent Portal is available to

all parents and students. This program is useful in tracking your child’s academic progress from any location that has internet access. All parents and students will have Power School passwords. If you have lost your password you may contact the school for another copy. All new students and parents will receive their passwords once the school year is underway. The site can be accessed at https://sunwest.powerschool.com/public/ (This is also available on the Sun West School Division webpage.) Here is a brief reminder of how the program works: The Grades and Attendance tab will allow you to check assignments and scores by clicking on the blue percentage across from a class. The Grades History tab will show you the grades your child received in previous grading periods. The Teacher Comments tab is used to access current teacher comments for your student and the School Bulletin tab has current announcements about some of the exciting things that are happening at our school. All of these are designed to strengthen communication between teachers and parents as we work together to support your child’s learning. You will find that there is more information available in some areas than in others, and that teachers are using PowerSchool in different ways. We welcome your feedback. If you have any questions regarding the use of PowerSchool please contact us at the school so we can support you.
