After installing the EtherFast® 10/100 LAN Card in your PC, follow theseinstructions to install the card’s driver. For troubleshooting tips during setup,please contact Linksys technical support.

1. Start up your PC in Windows 95.

2. Windows 95 will automatically detect the EtherFast® 10/100 LAN Card inyour PC. The Update Device Driver Wizard window (below) or a similarwindow will appear.

3. Insert the “Linksys Setup Utility” CD into your CD-ROM drive. ClickNext.

4. A screen will appear stating that Windows 95 was unable to locate the driv-er. Click Other Locations to enter the driver’s location manually.

5. Type the driver location, D:\Drivers\WIN95, in the location field on theSelect Other Location Screen. Then, click OK.

Note: Do not click Cancel or Skip atany time during the installation.Doing so will prevent the driverfrom being properly installed onyour PC.

6. Windows will show that the files have been found. Verify that the SetupUtility CD is in your CD-ROM drive and click Finish to continue.

7. The following screen will prompt you for the driver location. In the CopyFiles From: field, type D:\Drivers\WIN95. Then, click OK.

8. Windows 95 will begin copying files to your PC. When asked if you wantto restart your PC, remove the floppy disk and click Yes.

The Etherfast® 10/100 LAN Card has been installed successfully.

1. Start up your PC in Windows 98.

2. Windows 98 will automatically detect the presence of the EtherFast® Card inyour PC.

3. Insert the “Linksys Setup Utility” CD into your CD-ROM drive while theAdd New Hardware Wizard (in English) window is visible. Click Next.

4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)” and clickNext.

5. Select "Specify a location" and type “D:\Drivers\WIN98” in the drop-downbox. Then, click Next.

6. A window will open, notifying you that Windows is searching for the LinksysLNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter driver. When the window notifies you thatit is ready to install the driver, click Next.

7. Windows 98 will begin copying the EtherFast® Card’s driver files onto yourPC. If an “Insert Disk” box appears requesting Windows 98 files, click OKand direct Windows to the proper location of the files, e.g., D:\win98 (insertthe windows CD into your CD-ROM if directing Windows to your WindowsCD) or c:\windows\options\cabs.

8. If Windows asks you to supply any drivers beginning with “lne” or “netlne”,re-direct Windows to your floppy drive (D:\Drivers\WIN98).

9. Windows will finish installing the software onto your PC. Click Finish.

10. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM from yourPC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do so man-ually. Click the Start button, then click Shutdown, and choose the Restartoption. Then, click OK.

1. Start up your PC in Windows Millennium.

2. Windows ME will automatically detect the presence of the PCI EthernetController hardware in your PC.

3. Insert the “Linksys LNE100TX (ver. 5) Fast Ethernet Adapter Drivers” CDinto your CD-ROM drive while the Add New Hardware Wizard (in English)window is visible. Click Next.

4. Select "Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)” and click Next.

6. A window will open, notifying you that Windows is searching for the LinksysLNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter driver. When the window notifies you thatit is ready to install the driver, click Next.

7. Windows Millennium will begin copying the EtherFast® Card’s driver filesonto your PC. Have your Windows Millennium CD available. If an “InsertDisk” box appears requesting Windows Millennium files, click OK anddirect Windows to the proper location of the files, e.g., D:\win9x (insert theWindows CD into your CD-ROM if directing Windows to your WindowsCD) or c:\windows\options\cabs.

8. If Windows asks you to supply any drivers beginning with “lne” or “netlne”,make sure the Linksys Setup Utility CD is in the CD-ROM drive and re-direct Windows to your CD-ROM drive (D:\Drivers\WINME, where “D”represents your CD-ROM drive).

9. Windows will finish installing the software onto your PC. Click Finish.

10. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM from yourPC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do so man-ually. Click the Start button, then click Shutdown, and choose the Restartoption and click OK.

Your Etherfast® 10/100 LAN Card has been installed successfully.

The following steps are for NT PCs that have networking already installedaccording to the Windows NT documentation. If you have not already installednetworking onto your NT PC, please refer to your Windows documentation.These steps will install the EtherFast® Card’s driver software on your PC,enabling your PC to properly communicate with the card. Remember that youmust be logged on as a network administrator to continue.

1. Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, then double-click on the Networkicon.

2. When the networking window appears, choose the Adapters tab. Click Add.

3. When the list of available network adapters appears, click the Have Disk but-ton.

4. Put the “Linksys Setup Utility” CD into your CD-ROM drive. Type A:\ intothe box on your screen and click OK.

5. Highlight the Linksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TXv5) entry in the window that appears. Click OK.

6. When NT asks you for the media type. Choose the AutoSense option. Whenfinished, click on Continue. Then, click Close.

7. If Windows NT asks you to supply your original Windows NT CD-ROM orsetup disks, direct Windows NT to the proper location (most likely D:\i386).

8. Click on the Protocols tab. Add any protocols you require by clicking theAdd button. (Refer to your Microsoft documentation if you have any ques-tions on adding protocols.)

9. After your bindings, settings, and services are set, click the Close button.

10. Remove your Driver Disk and CD-ROM and click Yes to restart your PC.

11. Once your PC has rebooted, double-click the Network Neighborhood iconon your desktop. Make sure that you have access to the network. If you do,your card has been properly installed.

• If you had previously installed any NT service packs, you must re-installthem. Otherwise, you may receive Not Enough Service Storage Spaceerrors in the Event Viewer.

• If you need to install the TCP/IP protocol, refer to your system administra-tor or your Windows NT documentation. Linksys does not provide techni-cal support for the configuration or troubleshooting of the TCP/IP proto-col.

1. Start your Windows 2000 PC.

2. Windows will display the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) box.Click Next.

3. The Install Hardware Device Drivers dialog box will appear. WhenEthernet Controller is displayed, select “Search for a suitable driver for mydevice (Recommended).” Click Next.

4. The Locate Driver Files dialog box will appear. Select “Specify a loca-tion.” Click Next.

5. When the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) box appears, insert the“Linksys Setup Utility” CD into your CD-ROM drive. In the “Copy manu-facturer’s files from“ field, type “D:\Drivers\WIN2000.” Click OK.

6. The Driver File Search Results dialog box will appear. Click Next.

7. The Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard (in English) dialog boxwill appear. Click Finish.

8. When asked if you want to restart your PC, remove the CD-ROM fromyour PC and click Yes. If Windows does not prompt you to restart, do somanually.

Windows XP has a built-in LNE100TX NIC driver. After physically installingthe EtherFast 10/100 LAN Card into your PC, Windows XP will automaticallyinstall the LNE100TX driver. The device driver may identify the LAN Card asversion 4.1. Use this quick installation to update the built-in driver that shipswith Windows XP.

If you want to use the new driver on the LNE100TX(v5.1) driver CD, you mustupdate the driver for this device.

1. Power up your PC and start Windows XP.

2. Click Start and open the Control Panel. Double-click on thePerformance and Maintenance icon.

3. Double-click on the System icon. Select the Hardware item.

4. Click Device Manager and select Network Adapters. Double-click on theLinksys LNE100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter (LNE100TX v4) item.

6. The Hardware Update Wizard (in English) dialog box will appear. SelectInstall from a list or specific location (Advanced) and click Next.

8. Enter the driver pathname (e.g., D:\Drivers\WinXP) in the field. ClickNext.

3. When the Completing the Hardware Update Wizard (in English) dialogbox is shown, the screen will show the following adapter name:

Les étapes ci-dessous sont destinées aux ordinateurs fonctionnant sous Windows NTdont les fonctions de mise en réseau sont déjà installées conformément à la documenta-tion de ce système d'exploitation. Si les composants de mise en réseau ne sont pasencore installés sur l'ordinateur, se reporter à la documentation de Windows NT. Lesétapes suivantes consistent à installer le logiciel pilote de la carte EtherFast® sur l'ordi-nateur pour qu'il puisse communiquer correctement avec celle-ci. Il faut avoir ouvertune session comme administrateur réseau pour pouvoir continuer.

1. Cliquer sur Démarrer, Paramètres et Panneau de configuration, puis cliquer deuxfois sur l'icône Réseau.

2. Lorsque la fenêtre des paramètres réseau apparaît, sélectionner l'onglet Cartes, puiscliquer sur Ajouter.

7. Si Windows NT demande de fournir le CD-ROM ou les disquettes d'installation d'origine du système d'exploitation, indiquer le chemin d'accès correspondant (trèsprobablement D:\i386).

8. Cliquer sur l'onglet Protocoles, puis sur le bouton Ajouter pour ajouter tous les pro-tocoles requis (pour toute question concernant l'ajout de protocoles, se reporter à ladocumentation de Microsoft).

9. Après avoir établi les liaisons, les paramètres et les services voulus, cliquer sur lebouton Fermer.

10. Retirer la disquette ou le CD-ROM des pilotes et cliquer sur Oui pour redémarrerl'ordinateur.

11. Une fois que l'ordinateur a redémarré, cliquer deux fois sur l'icône Voisinageréseau du bureau. Vérifier que l'ordinateur a accès au réseau. Si c'est le cas, la carteest correctement installée.

• Si des mises à jour (Service Packs) de Windows NT ont préalablement été installéessur l'ordinateur, il faut les réinstaller. Sinon, des messages d'erreur du type « Espace insuffisant pour le stockage des services » risquent d'apparaître dansl'Observateur d'événements.

• Lorsqu'il est nécessaire d'installer le protocole TCP/IP, consulter l'administrateurdu système ou la documentation de Windows NT. Linksys ne fournit pas d'assis-tance technique pour la configuration ou la mise au point du protocole TCP/IP.

L'installation et la configuration de la carte réseau local 10/100 Mbps EtherFast® sous Windows NT sont alors terminées.

Windows XP comprend un pilote intégré pour l'adapteur réseau LNE100TX. Une foisque la carte réseau 10/100 Mbps Etherfast® est installée dans l'ordinateur, Windows XPinstalle automatiquement le pilote LNE100TX. Ce dernier reconnaîtra peut-être l'adap-tateur réseau comme s'il s'agissait de la version 4.1. Ce guide d'installation rapideprésente les étapes de mise à jour du pilote inclus dans Windows XP.

La disquette LNE100TX(v5.1) permet d'installer le pilote de l'adaptateur réseauLNE100TX version 5.1.

1. Démarrer l'ordinateur sous Windows XP

2. Cliquer sur Démarrer et ouvrir le Panneau de configuration. Cliquer deux foissur l'icône Performances et maintenance.

Die folgenden Schritte gelten für Windows NT-Computer, auf denen das Netzwerkgemäß der Windows NT-Dokumentation bereits eingerichtet ist. Ist das Netzwerk aufdem Windows NT-Computer noch nicht eingerichtet, ziehen Sie die Windows NT-Dokumentation hinzu. Mit den folgenden Schritten wird die Treibersoftware derEtherFast®-Karte auf dem PC installiert und somit die Kommunikation des PC mit derKarte ermöglicht. Beachten Sie, dass Sie als Netzwerkadministrator angemeldet seinmüssen, um fortzufahren.

1. Klicken Sie auf Start, Einstellungen, Systemsteuerung, und doppelklicken Sieanschließend auf das Symbol Netzwerk.

11. Doppelklicken Sie nach dem Neustart des PC auf dem Desktop auf das SymbolNetzwerkumgebung. Überprüfen Sie den Zugang zum Netzwerk. Wenn Sie aufdas Netzwerk zugreifen können, ist die Karte ordnungsgemäß installiert.

• Wenn Sie zuvor ein NT-Service Pack installiert hatten, müssen Sie dies erneutinstallieren. Andernfalls erhalten Sie u. U. im Ereignisprotokoll Fehler wegen unzu-reichendem Speicherplatz für Dienste.

In Windows XP ist ein Netzwerkkartentreiber für die LNE100TX-Netzwerkkarte inte-griert. Installieren Sie zunächst die EtherFast® 10/100-LAN-Karte in Ihrem PC.Windows XP installiert dann den entsprechenden LNE100TX-Treiber automatisch.Möglicherweise identifiziert der Treiber die Version 4.1 der LAN-Karte. Verwenden Siediese Kurzinstallationsanleitung, um den in Windows XP enthaltenen Treiber zu aktuali-sieren.

Falls Sie den auf der Treiberdiskette „LNE100TX(v5.1)“ enthaltenen neuen Treiberverwenden möchten, müssen Sie den Treiber für dieses Gerät aktualisieren.

1. Schalten Sie Ihren PC ein und starten Sie Windows XP..

2. Klicken Sie auf Start und anschließend auf Systemsteuerung. Doppelklicken Sieauf das Symbol Leistung und Wartung.

Nota: No haga clic en Cancelar oOmitir en ningún momento durantela instalación. Si lo hace, impediráque el controlador se instale cor-rectamente en su PC.

Con estos pasos, se instalará el soft-ware del controlador de la tarjeta EtherFast® en su PC, para permitir que este último secomunique correctamente con la tarjeta. 11. Una vez reiniciado su PC, haga doble clic en el icono Entorno de red de suescritorio. Verifique que tenga acceso a la red. En caso afirmativo, la tarjeta hasido instalada correctamente.

• Si ha instalado previamente algún paquete de servicios NT, debe reinstalarlo. Delo contrario, puede recibir errores como No hay suficiente espacio de almace-namiento en el Visor de eventos.

• Si necesita instalar el protocolo TCP/IP, consulte a su administrador del sistema ola documentación de Windows NT. Linksys no proporciona apoyo técnico para laconfiguración o resolución de problemas del protocolo TCP/IP.

Windows XP tiene un controlador LNE100TX NIC incorporado. Después de instalarfísicamente la tarjetade LAN 10/100 EtherFast® en su PC, Windows XP instalará el con-trolador LNE100TX automáticamente. Es posible que el controlador de dispositivoidentifique la Tarjeta de LAN como de la versión 4.1. Utilice esta instalación rápida paraactualizar el controlador incorporado proporcionado con Windows XP.

Si desea utilizar el nuevo controlador con el disquete del controlador LNE100TX (v5.1),debe actualizar el controlador para este dispositivo.

1. Encienda el PC e inicie Windows XP.
