Ethernet Routing Switch 4000 Family Overview and Benefits

Highlights

Always-on Stackable Architecture delivering better resiliency and 100% Call Completion even during failure scenarios.

Avaya’s Stackable Architecture provides chassis like resiliency Simplified management through a single IP address; with forced-mode maintaining the stack

IP when 1 unit fails in a stack of 2 Shortest Path algorithm ensures that traffic is forwarded the most efficiently across the

stack, thereby reducing latency QoS is maintained across the Stack Provides ability to hot-swap failed units in the stack with no impact to forwarding on other

switches in the stack Configurations on replaced units are automatically updated through Automatic Unit

Replacement Software on replaced units are automatically updated through Agent Automatic Unit

Replacement and Diagnostics Automatic Unit Replacement Seamlessly add new units to a stack with New Unit Quick Configuration. Provides Temporary Base Unit functionality in case the Base Unit fails or is down

Distributed link and advanced protocols provide network level reliability even if the unit on which one of the uplinks resides fails or is powered down

Supports field replaceable redundant power and load-sharing options with the addition of the RPS15.

Highly Efficient edge switching architecture delivering maximum performance combined with class leading energy efficiency.

Wire-Speed L2 & L3 Switching High Efficiency by Design Flexible Deployment Options with PoE, PoE+ and redundant power Class leading energy efficiency by design, plus Avaya Energy Saver to extend power savings by

Field Replaceable Power Supplies

All 6 new ERS 4000 models support up to two field replaceable power supplies. – Each switch comes supplies with one AC power supply

– The 4826GTS & 4850GTS are supplied with a 300w AC Power Supply installed – The 4526T-PWR+, 4550T-PWR+, 4826GTS-PWR+ & 4850GTS-PWR+ are supplied with a

1000w AC Power Supply installed – The second power supply can be used for redundancy or to provide additional PoE+ power budget. – By supporting dual removable power supplies power redundancy can be supported without the

need for external redundant powering options (such as the RPS15), saving rack-space and money.

300w AC Power Supply – Order code: AL1905?03-E5 – AC Typical Input: 100-240 V~ – AC Frequency: 47-63 Hz – Max Load: 5A – Power cords use the IEC 60320 C16 connector as the cord supplies with the units supports higher

operating temperatures due to the proximity of hot air exhaust from the power supply.

1000w AC PoE+ Power Supply – Order code: AL1905?21-E6 – AC Typical Input: 100-240 V~ – AC Frequency: 47-63 Hz – Max Load: 12A – Power cords use the IEC 60320 C16 connector as the cord supplies with the units supports higher

operating temperatures due to the proximity of hot air exhaust from the power supply.

802.3at PoE+ Support

Four of the new ERS 4000 models support both 802.3af and 802.3at PoE+ – This is supported on all copper ports except the copper 10/100/1000 combo ports on the Fast

Ethernet models.

Ports providing PoE+ ports are highlighted by an orange (Pantone 165C) line surrounding the ports. – A similar red (Pantone 485C) highlight is used to identify PoE ports on ERS 4500 models.

PoE plus ports supply power at up 600mA according to the 802.3at standard.

The ERS 4000 PoE+ implementation supports a maximum of 54vDC.

The maximum PoE+ power per port on an ERS 4000 model at the PSE is 32.4 watts.

The ERS 4000 supports up to 855 watts for PoE/PoE+ when operating with one power supply installed or up to 1,855 watts for PoE/PoE+ when both power supplies are installed.

Port Configurations

The ERS 4800 Gigabit models support 2 SFP ports which are shared with the last 2 10/100/1000 copper ports. Plus an additional 2 SFP+ ports

– The SFP+ ports support either 1 Gigabit SFPs or 10Gigabit SFP+ devices

Different ERS 4800 uplink combinations: – Up to 2 SFP in SFP+ ports (not sacrificing any of the 10/100/1000 ports) – Up to 4 SFP in SFP & SFP+ ports (if you use the SFP ports then the corresponding 10/100/1000 port is

non operational) – Up to 2 10 Gig SFP+ in SFP+ ports (not sacrificing any of the 10/100/1000 ports) – Up to 2 10 Gig SFP+ in SFP+ ports and up to 2 SFP in SFP ports (if you use the SFP ports then the

corresponding 10/100/1000 port is non operational)
