EtherNet/IPLeveraging instrument information to enterprise level
EtherNet/IP2
EtherNet/IP fits your process needsMilk standardization Processes In the food and beverage industry instrumenting of processes is essential for fine-tuned control of each stage of every process. Precise management of material flow and stocks is also necessary. Digital communication protocols provide and transmit larger amounts of data, allowing up-to-date real time information to be used in decision making at every level.
Using EtherNet/IP allows the user to access to the smartness of multivariable devices. For example: mass flow, density, temperature, totalizer settings as well as diagnostics can be delivered over a single cable. In addition, savings of 40% can be made through reduced commissioning time. The time spent on loop identification, device integration and process-loop tuning can also be reduced by 25%.

Networking Using standard Ethernet for networking throughout your process automation system can help you solve critical business problems by allowing you to:•Access the data you need, providing
business leaders with a real-time view into their process automation system.
• Capture your instrumentation data and distribute them across the production enterprise.
• Facilitate critical analysis and reporting on production processes in order to identify potential and impending problems and improve overall performance.
Benefits With EtherNet/IP you profit from:• Seamless integration into control
systems with direct EtherNet/IP connection.
• Easy access to process variables, device and diagnostic data.
• Convenient device configuration and process optimization.
• Cost-effective, fast system integration due to fewer network components.
Endress+Hauser’s EtherNet/IP field devices are used for the following:• Promass w Coriolis flowmeters are used to define the quality of cream depending on concentration. Mass flow, density and temperature of cream are measured.• Promag x electromagnetic flowmeters are used to blend skimmed milk with cream in order to get the defined fat content in the milk.• Verification of fat concentration of standardized milk with Promass y, measuring mass flow, density and temperature.• Having a single EtherNet/IP network allows the third-party frequency converter z controlling the centrifuge to be connected directly to the system.
3Application example and integration with Rockwell Automation
Highlights EtherNet/IP offers:• Integrated web server for
easy configuration and fast troubleshooting.
•Detailed data available within control system I/O trees.
• Immediate device recognition as a network node.
• Predictive maintenance support by providing reliable diagnostic data according to NAMUR NE 107.
• System integration file (EDS) directly uploadable from the device.
• FDT/DTM technology for extended device configuration, asset information, and calibration management.
• Endress+Hauser’s EtherNet/IP devices are all ODVA certified.
Premium integration with Rockwell Automation
Reduce risk, implementation time and integration costs by taking advantage of the preferred integration between Endress+Hauser instruments and the Rockwell Automation PlantPAx process automation system.
Value-added integration:• Step-by-step technical guidance
– dedicated integration documents• Pre-engineered controller code leveraging the
intelligence of process instrumentation – Add-On Instructions (AOI)
• Simplified visualization providing real-time access to instrument diagnostics – pre-designed, configured operator faceplates
• Easy device configuration and data integration – Level 3 Add-On Profiles (AOP)
Faster time to market for real customer value:
• Time savings and reduced risk during system development, engineering, commissioning and start-up.

Communication protocol EtherNet/IP, which adapts CIP (Common Industrial Protocol) to Ethernet Technology, is an Industrial Ethernet communication protocol.
EtherNet/IP offers several unique advantages:• EtherNet/IP is unmodified
Ethernet IEEE 802.3.• Compatible with standard Internet
protocols – e.g., HTTP and DHCP – as well as standard industrial protocols for data access and exchange.
• EtherNet/IP is fully supported by ODVA.
