Learning Targets
Student will be successful at this short-term research project when s/he can:• Develop and use an essential question to communicate
knowledge of a topic.• Teach a lesson (atleast 15 minutes) communicating a
significant understanding of a topic.• Create a digital research tool that educates, informs and
persuades students to think differently about the Ethics of a Science or Technology related Issue.
• Use NoodleTools, as a digital portfolio, to identify sources for in-text references.

Ethics Advisors
Each issue (within the topic and for the essential question) has three advisors who are responsible for research, lesson and presentation development, and one management/ technology aspect of the project.• Science, Technology & Medicine• Timeline/Law & Government• Sociology / Political and Global
Science, Technology & Medicine Advisor
Develops the lesson with relevant information and resources analyzing how Science, Technology and Medicine have impacted the Issue providing insight from multiple perspectives with an ethical focus.Example: Recent advancements that have helped to change the outlook or viewpoint of the issues, ie – medicines, treatments or inventions that have prolonged life or advanced man kind.
Daily Tech Responsibilities: Completes tasks as defined below: • NoodleTools Project – Sharing, Collaborating, Research Question
and Thesis (group members add to this shared document)• Monitors for 10 relevant sources in NT and reviews the
annotations in the bibliography
Science, Technology & Medicine Advisor
Advisor Research Focus:• Historical and current perspectives as related to Science, Technology
and medicine with an ethical focus• 3 Sources in a shared / collaborative NoodleTools Project - 1 source is
annotated, explaining the author(s) credentials, bias, etc.• Presentation Tool – Create a PowerPoint, Prezi, iMovie to be used
during the lesson to present research– Identify a relevant statement and or quote to reflect the ethical aspects of
the issue. Use this as part of the presentation to provide more relevance to the issue.
– Provide research and information related to science/technology to be part of the Issues Statement Essay
• Identify and open dialogue (create discussion questions) to be used as part of the presentation.
• Actively participate in teaching the lesson
Timeline /Law & Government Advisor
Develops the lesson with relevant information and resources analyzing how Law & Government have impacted the Issue providing insight from multiple perspectives.
Example: Supreme Court cases / National, State and Local governing issues and a Timeline of significant events related to the issue.
Daily Tech Responsibilities: Completes tasks as defined below:• Google Doc – Create, Share, Monitor• Writes the Issues Statement / Summary for the wikispace with
collaborative research from group advisors• Reports to group discussion leader daily
Timeline /Law & Government Advisor

ethical focus• Create a timeline of significant events explaining how they relate to the issue• 3 Sources in a shared / collaborative NoodleTools Project - 1 source is

Develops the lesson with relevant information and resources analyzing how Politics (local, state and national political perspective) have impacted the issue providing insight from multiple perspectives.
Example: Connections to Church & State, all viewpoints- liberal, conservative or otherwise.
Daily Tech Responsibilities: Completes all other tasks as defined below:• Creates and manages PowerPoint and or other presentation tool• Reports to group discussion leader daily
Sociology, Global and Political Advisor
Advisor Research Focus:• Historical and current perspectives as related to the issue and it’s global significance.• Ethical issues as related to Science• 3 Sources in a shared / collaborative NoodleTools Project - 1 source is annotated,
explaining the author(s) credentials, bias, etc.• Identify a relevant statement and or quote to reflect the ethical aspects of the issue. Use
this as part of the presentation to provide more relevance to the issue.• Identify what’s current about the issues using Social Media– Facebook, Blogs, Twitter,
Wikis, Tumblr, others to post a question and or find out what people are saying about the issue.
• Presentation Tool – Create a PowerPoint, Prezi, iMovie to be used during the lesson to present research– Identify a relevant statement and or quote to reflect the ethical aspects of the
issue. Use this as part of the presentation to provide more relevance to the issue. This is also to be part of the Issues Statement Essay
– Identify and open dialogue (create a discussion question) to be used as part of the presentation.
