Urban innovative actions (UIA)
Budget: 372 million EUR for period 2014.-2020.
Beneficiaries: Cities of more than 50,000 inhabitants • The project must involve a wide range of stakeholders, including the city, non-
governmental organisations, the private sector, research institutions, the citizens themselves, etc.
5th Call for Proposals should open in September 2019. It will be the last call of the current funding cycle (2014-2020).
Areas of intervention: air quality, circular economy, culture and cultural heritage anddemographic change
• UIA co-finances 80% of project’s activities
• In total, UIA can provide you with up to 5 million EUR
Initiative of the European Union that provides urban areas throughout Europe with resources to test new and unproven solutions to address urban challenges.

• Financial instruments represent a resource-efficient way of deploying cohesion policy resources in pursuit of the
Europe 2020 Strategy objectives. • Support for investments by way of loans, guarantees,
equity and other risk-bearing mechanisms, possibly combined with technical support, interest rate subsidies or
guarantee fee subsidies within the same operation.

The European Investment Bank
• Lending arm of EU – the world’s largest multilateral lender and the biggest provider ofclimate finance

Financial instruments - BlendingInnovFin - EU Finance for innovators
• aims to facilitate and accelerate access to finance for innovative businesses and other innovative entities in Europe
• in Croatia InnovFin cooperates with HBOR
ESIF Financial Instruments
• EU resources under the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) are transformed into financial products such as loans, guarantees, equity and other risk-bearing mechanisms. These are then used to support economically viable projects which promote EU policy objectives.
• The EU Member States who receive funding under the ESIF have a national body known as the Managing Authority (MA) which oversees the use of the available resources. MAs use ESIF allocations and place them in FIs through a Fund of Funds or a financial intermediary from which eligible projects can be financed.

assistance to member countries in the development of energy efficiency projectsthat compete for funding from EU funds
