Creator God, since the dawn of creation,
you have loved Isla into life
and drawn her deeper into your love.
We gather to hear again your Word

In love we entrust Isla into your safe keeping.
May we know your grace, mercy and peace in our lives now,
as we grieve the loss of Isla.

FIRST READING:A Reading from the prophet Isaiah 35:1-2,10
Let the wilderness and the dry-lands exult,
let the wasteland rejoice and bloom,
let it bring forth flowers like the jonquil,
let it rejoice and sing for joy.
For those Yahweh has ransomed shall return,
they will come to Zion shouting for joy,
everlasting joy on their faces;
joy and gladness will go with them
and sorrow and lament be ended.
The Word of the Lord
All:Thanks be to God
RESPONSORIAL PSALM:Psalm 148 (prayed together)
Praise the Lord!
Across the heavens, from the heights,
All you angels, heavenly beings,
Sing praise, sing praise!
Sun and moon, glittering stars,
Sing praise, sing praise,
Highest heavens, rain clouds,
Sing praise, sing praise.
Fire and hail, snow and mist,
Storms, winds, mountains, hills,
Fruit trees and cedars, wild beasts and tame,
Snakes and birds,
Praise, praise the holy name,
This name beyond all names.
God’s splendour above the earth,
Above the heavens,
Sing praise, sing praise!
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION:
Alleluia, alleluia.
God, you loved the world so much,
you gave us your only Son,
that all who believe in him might have eternal life.
Alleluia.
GOSPEL:Matthew 5:1-10
Seeing the crowds Jesus went up the hill. There he sat down and was joined by his disciples. Then he began to speak.
This is what he taught them:
How happy are the poor in spirit:
Theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Happy the gentle:
They shall have the earth for their heritage.
Happy those who mourn:
They shall be comforted.
Happy those who hunger and thirst for what is right:
They shall be satisfied.
Happy the merciful:
They shall have mercy shown them.
Happy the pure in heart:
They shall see God.
Happy the peacemakers:
They shall be called daughters and sons of God.
Happy those who are persecuted in the cause of right:
Theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The Gospel of the Lord.
All:Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL:
Celebrant: Loving God, you have made us for yourself
and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.
Hear the prayers we now make
as we give Isla into your loving care:
1. We pray for Isla’s family: her brothers – Desmond and Richard, her sisters – Carmel and Maureen and her nieces and nephews and their families. May they know comfort and peace in this time of sadness.
Lord hear us: R. Lord hear our prayer.
2. We remember Isla’s parents, Ellen and Leo, her sisters Mary, Theresa and Monica and her dear friend Bernadette, who have gone before her into eternal life. May their spirit live on in our lives.
Lord hear us: R. Lord hear our prayer.
3. We pray in gratitude for the staff at Corpus Christi Clayton and for those who cared for Isla in these last years of her life. May they be blessed and comforted.
Lord hear us: R. Lord hear our prayer.
4. We pray for our world in this very troubled time when so many are suffering. May we continue to reach out in love to one another.

COMMUNION HYMN: On Eagles Wings (Michael Joncas)
You who dwell in the shelter of the LordWho abide in His shadow for lifeSay to the Lord, "My refuge, my rock in whom I trust!"
And He will raise you up on eagles' wingsBear you on the breath of dawnMake you to shine like the sunAnd hold you in the palm of His hand
The snare of the fowler will never capture youAnd famine will bring you no fearUnder His wings your refuge, His faithfulness your shield
And He will raise you up on eagles' wingsBear you on the breath of dawnMake you to shine like the sunAnd hold you in the palm of His hand
You need not fear the terror of the nightNor the arrow that flies by dayThough thousands fall about you, near you it shall not come
And He will raise you up on eagles' wingsBear you on the breath of dawnMake you to shine like the sunAnd hold you in the palm of His hand

One day we shall joyfully greet her again
in the love of Christ our Lord.
V. Saints of God, come to her aid;
Come to meet her, angels of the Lord.
R. Receive her soul and present her to God the most high.
V. May Christ who called you take you to himself,
May angels lead you to Abraham’s side.R.
V. Give eternal rest to Isla O Lord
And may your light shine on her forever.R.
Celebrant:Into your hands, Father of mercies,
we commend Isla in the sure and certain hope that, together with all who have died in Christ,
she will rise with him on the last day.
We make our prayer through Jesus Christ Our Lord.

Blessing and Incensing:
The hand of God shall hold you,
the peace of God enfold you;
The love that dreamed and formed you,
still surrounds you here today;
The light of God beside you, above, beneath, inside you;
The light that shines to guide you home
to the loving hand of God.
Together:
God for us, we call you Creator.
God alongside us, we call you Jesus.
God within us, we call you Holy Spirit;
in friendship with God’s saints;
aided by the holy angels
may Isla rest this day
in the peace and love of her eternal home.
Amen
