Second Easter Sunday of Easter 23rd April 2017

THIS WEEK IN THE PARISH

A few words from our Pastor:-

This Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday and it is where we recall St. Thomas' encounter with the Lord one week after the other Apostles. Although Thomas is slower to believe due to his absence during Christ's first appearance, his own journey of faith leads him to one of the most poignant confessions in the Gospels: "My Lord and my God!" During the Easter proclamation, we hear of the "happy fault" and "the truly necessary sin of Adam that gained for us so great a redeemer." This joyful exaltation does not call the tragedy of humanity's rejection of God as a good thing in itself. However, when we truly accept God's mercy for our faults, we learn in a way that mere instruction cannot give that God's love is always greater than any offence we may have committed. The joy of Divine Mercy Sunday is that we can simultaneously acknowledge the weight and burden of sin while living in the levity of God's love. When all other human helpers fail, the Risen God/man walks with us to our true home.

God bless

Come volunteer at the Family Life Conference in Nanoose Bay, August 25 – 27. You will enjoy beautiful scenery, wonderful activities and great community!
