COURSE DESCRIPTION
Learning objectives
To increase knowledge and skills of young rheumatologists and basic researchers
working in the field of rheumatology in immunology.
To give to participants the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas and experiences
and therefore to foster international collaboration.
Basic training in how to design and conduct a translational research project
Course description
This is a compact, one and a half day course on immunology with a special emphasis on two hot immunology topics and on the design, interpretation and analysis of basic or translational research projects.
Three main sessions will be organized:
- Basic to Hot topic sessions (with 3 different lectures about adaptive or innate immunity)
- Discussion of a potential research project. Based on an unsolved research question posed by the faculty, the participants will draft a project using immunological investigational techniques (in vitro, in vivo). Via discussion with the faculty, the project will be improved and refined, so the participants will learn how to optimize approach, methods and controls.
- Immunology speed dating. This session will allow the participants to get together and with the faculty in a more ‘informal’ environment to share knowledge and ideas.
Course certification
A certificate of attendance will be supplied.
Course evaluation
There will be a formal evaluation of the course by attendees
