Information Evening

Departure Sunday 1st July 2018

• Please arrive at EckingtonSchool at 22:30

• Do not park in the bus baysclosest to the school.

• Find your child's familygroup leader and hand overany money or medication.

• T shirts will be handed outon the coach.

• Approximate departure time23.00 – 23.30

Travel Bag ( For the journey and Day 1 in Paris )

• Comfortable shoes

• Waterproof

• Sun hat

• Sun cream

• Water bottle

• i pads etc (at own risk)

• Drinks and snacks

• Toothbrush & paste

No Nuts!

Day 1 Travel to Paris On the way to Paris we will stop off at the Theipval Memorial. In Paris we will spend the afternoon at the Sacré Coeur. Then we will have our evening meal. Finally we will check into our hotel.

Access to the Disneyland park &

Disney Studios will be available on Tuesday

and Wednesday.

Day 2

• Spend the day in theparks and then go toBuffalo Bill’s for a showand evening meal.

• Return to the park towatch the firework/laser show display.

Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show

Prepare to relive the fantastic epic of the Far West! Throughout the dinner-show, Mickey and friends invite the audience to share their epic adventures across the Wild West while enjoying a delicious Texan meal. Waving cowboy hats and encouraged by Mickey and friends, everyone fervently supports the team that defends the honour of their ranch during competitions held in the arena.

Day 3 & 4 Day 3 Spend the day in the parks. This evening we will use vouchers for a meal in the park before returning to the hotel to pack.

Day 4 Breakfast in the hotel. Last minute packing and room inspection before the journey home. Arrive at Eckington at 21.00 (approximately). We will post details of any delays on the school website. NOTE:

No school Friday 6th July

The Food

Monday Night’s Meal- Monte Carlo Reataurant (Buffet)

Wednesday Night’s Meal Voucher to be used in Disney

Park restaurants

Thursday’s lunch/evening meal

will be bought by the students at service

stations.

Tuesday Night’s Set Meal (Typical Texan Meal)

Buffalo Bill’s

English or Continental Breakfast available each morning in the hotel.

Family Groups

• Each child will be assigned a family group for the duration ofthe trip.

• Each family group will be made up of up to 12 children andlooked after by a specific member of staff throughout the trip.

• Our trips are made up of pupils in years 7-10.

• It is essential that your child is aware who their group leaderis and they get on the same coach as them!

• Students are not in family groups all the time.

You need to complete a form this evening listing people you wish to share with.

We will try to accommodate requests but some adjustments may need to be made.

Only in extenuating circumstances will these be changed after the process is complete.

Each room has:

Behaviour Contract 1.The decisions and instructions of teaching staff

and instructors must be entirely respected andfollowed at all times.

2.Smoking / vaping and the consumption ofalcohol is not permitted at any time.

3.Drug taking, unless for own medical reasons, isnot permitted.

4.Only members of the same sex are allowed in hotel rooms.

5.Eckington School can not accept anyresponsibility for the security of personal belongings such as mobile phones, cameras, I-Pods or jewellery.

Behaviour Contract 6. Taking mobile phones is not recommended.

If taken it is at child’s own risk. 7. At no time must students leave the hotel

grounds without supervision of staff. 8.At no time must students go out of bounds

at any location as instructed on different parts of the trip.

9. At no time must students endanger theirown safety or the safety of either students or staff.

10.At no time must students postphotographs on social networking sites

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN

• Students to report immediately any individual orgroup approaching them inappropriately.

• Students to be alert to who is around them.

• Students to lock windows / doors at night.

• Students will be led by staff at all times or madeaware of staff locations.

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN

• Students not to allow anyone of the opposite sexor not on our trip into their rooms.

• Students to be in buddy threes at all times andnever by themselves, including going to the toilet.

• Students are not allowed to leave the hotelgrounds without a member of staff supervising.

• Students can not use the swimming pool.

HEALTH & SAFETY To ensure the health and safety of all young people and adults

on the trip the following measures will be in place:

• Risk assessments completed and approved.

• All young people adhere to the behaviour contract atall times. Non negotiable.

• All young people report any accident immediately tothe any member of staff. Designated first aid staff willlead on this.

• All young people to be fully protected at all timesfrom the risk of high UV exposure and hightemperatures.

HEALTH & SAFETY To ensure the health and safety of all young people and adults

on the trip the following measures will be in place:

• Students to wear seat belts at all times on the coach.

• All students to wear appropriate clothing for anyactivities – footwear!

• Prior to departure students will be briefed in detailabout the contents of the risk assessments (these willbe available for any parent/carer also).

• All students will be given a small card to carry at alltimes with emergency contact numbers and keyinformation, including what to do in an emergency.

In summary We want you all to have a

fantastic experience and be very happy on the trip.

We also want you to be kept

safe and to be well at all times.

What We Now Need • If there are any changes to Form 4 (Medication and

Emergency contacts details) please notify us at least oneweek before we depart.

• Any SEN requirements.

• Students with diabetes / epilepsy.

• Students prone to sleep walking.

• Students with allergies (sun creams, animals, medication,etc.)

We would be grateful if you would let us have the following information

What we need parents to do.

Organise Spending Money • Each Child will need between 120 to 150 euros.• A breakfast bank will operate daily for your child to withdraw

small amounts at a time. This will reduce the risk of spendingall in one go and losing money.

• If you would like the family group leader to hold this moneyfor your child it should be handed to them on the evening ofSunday 1st in a envelope with your child’s name on it.

• Each child will need about £30 in total for refreshments onthe outward and return journeys (alternatively you couldprovide a packed lunch for the outward journey).
