Location

Bemowo is in the western part of Warsaw, on the left bank of the Vistula river .

Area and people The area of Bemowo District is about 2,5 thousand hectares. It is inhabited by 100 thousand of

people and most of them are under 30 years old. The

population density in Bemowo District is over 4 thousand per

square kilometre and the district is developing intensively.

The beginning Bemowo became

part of Warsaw in 1951, and then it changed into seprate district in 2002.

The name of the district comes form general Józef Zachariasz Bem.

Forts There are 4 forts in

Bemowo: Fort BemaFort ChrzanówFort BlizneFort Radiowo They were built in

the 19th century by the authorities of Russia.

Boernerowo In 1921 people built

here the Transatlantic Radio Station, the biggest communication investment of Poland. It was destroyed during the 2nd World War.

The housing estate Boernerowo was created in 1932 by Ignacy Boerner.

Military Academy of Technology Military Academy of

Technology was placed in Bemowo 60 years ago, in 1951.

In the past only men could learn there, but since 1999 also women can study there.

It trains soldiers and civilian engineers.

Bemowo Airport If you want to learn

to fly a plane, come to Bemowo Airport.

There are also meetings of the Automobil Club and big concerts (e.g. AC/DC, Metallica and Michael Jackson)

Małgorzata Socha Malgorzata Socha

was born in April 23, 1980 in Warsaw. She is a Polish actress playing primarily in the television series.

She went to our school, which is situated in Thommego Street.

Drzyzga family Wojciech and his sons

Fabian and Thomas are famous volleyball players. Fabian and Tomasz went to our school and their mother, Janina, is a PE tacher in our school.

Wojciech found himself in the national team at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980, where Poland ranked first place in the qualifying group.
