Experience It! La Salette
The year is 1846, and the air is calm with a warm September breeze. As the afternoon is
drawing to a close, two young shepherds are suddenly struck with a vision in the hills of
France. It's an ethereal woman, donning a white dress with gold and rose accents – and
she has a message. The Shrine at La Salette marks this miracle site, where the Virgin
Mary spoke to Melanie and Maximin. It is believed that she spoke of the arm of her Son,
growing heavy from the loss of faith and profanity of the area. When the young children
reported this news, the town quickly sought to amend this wrong. Today, the basilica
honors this apparition through its towering stone structure, standing strong among the
surrounding mountains and sprawling pastures just as Mary did that fateful afternoon.

Ars
Shrines of St. John Vianney $45 USD
Spend the afternoon in the quaint town of Ars. Venture into the historic basilica, a 12th-century church, where St.
John Vianney would frequently preach. As the patron saint of parish priests, St. John Vianney served as a role model
in the Christian community. By the end of his life, he would spend the majority of his day listening to confessionals
by remorseful pilgrims. See his preserved body in the town’s new basilica, displayed in a glass coffin above the altar.
The Shrine of the Cure’s Heart lies in an adjacent building, which was recently transported around the world on tour.
You can also discover the former home of the saint, which has been preserved as it was when the saint lived there. In
the home, you’ll find the bed that grew in fame during his lifetime - it is believed that his bed was set on fire by the
devil. At the end of the day, return back to Lyon for the night. Duration: Approximately 4 hours. Please note a
minimum of 6 passengers is required. Transportation is included.
