Reasons for Exploration and Colonization

Curiosity Many Europeans were curious about the rest of the world so they sponsored explorers who traveled to Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Valuable Natural Resources & products

When valuable products were found, the kingdoms of Europe would set up colonies to send these products to Europe.

Europe would get rich from products like gold, silver, and slaves from other parts of the world.

Religion Many European leaders believed it was a good idea to spread Christianity around the world.

This spread the Christian religion, and also helped cause damage or destruction of native religions and culture.
