1. By supporting the development and training more and better active coaches
• 70+ coaches have attended Continental High Level seminars staged by EHF CC in 2010/11
• 14 National Association seminars will have been conducted by EHF expert conductors – approx 300 local coaches trained

2. By developing better resources for all Euro coaches
- NAC Sport Game/Performance Analysis Software
• Partnership with NAC Sport brings Euro 50k benefit to Europe

- Game Planner animated drills software
• Each NA received DVD in 2010• Online in 2011• Allows coaches to share training drills and ideas

• In 2010 Russia partnered EHF with a Coach Assistance Project• 16 Youth Coaches received 3 x 4 day seminars during 2010

Current Projects
• Umpire Development Programme• Group 3 (8 umpires from 7 NAs) graduates
next October• Group 4 (7 umpires from 7 NAs)• Group 5 (5 umpires from 5 NAs)• 22 umpires and 15 NAs involved• 6 mentors from 4 NAs (ENG/ESP/IRL/SCO)
Current Projects 2
• Support for European Women FIH umpires• Leader: Margaret Hunnaball• Goal: To help with the development of the
next generation of EHF international umpires (complementary to FIH projects like Road to London)
Train the trainers
• November 2010: Vienna worshop led by R. O’Connor and S. Bresciani
• New concept: NAs provided with ideas and resources to create their own national programme to coach umpires/develop umpiring
• Working in partnership between EHF and NAs: Development grants awarded to projects in Switzerland , Slovakia . First steps in Slovenia.
Why support UDP
• Widespread participation: 24 NAs have taken part:
• 18 Young European umpires have graduated (+8 this year)
• Most UDP umpires have become FIH international umpires and have been making progress in the different categories (up to G1 so far with some ready to reach WDP)
• Appointments to top EHF and FIH tournaments (also to the Youth Olympic Games 2010)
• Positive performance reports: good standard of umpiring
• Presence in the Road to London FIH programme

From now on
• Support NAs work to develop umpiring, including partnerships with EHF
• Train umpire coaches /managers• Continue work with new umpires with
potential to upgrade to FIH level (UDP format)
• Mentoring of current European FIH umpires, especially women, to reach PUL/G1 level (medium term development)

Conclusion
• UDP has made a massive difference to the individuals that completed the UDP.
• We have seen UDP Umpires at the Youth Olympics, Indoor World Cup and we will see two graduates in action here at the European Championships.
• Please continue to support the UDP; to identify, encourage and support individuals to reach their potential as great umpires.

• EHF DC will use Zonal Forums to link closely with NAs and ensure that we know their future plans and needs
• EHF DC will use Zonal Forums to improve communication between EHF and the member NAs making them feel more part of the EHF club
