It is our great pleasure that we celebrate the opening of the 11th European Jodo championship in Brussels. Although Jodo is a martial art cultivated into Japanese traditional culture, now it’s loved by people not only in Japan but also in European countries. I think that many enthousiasts have participated from European countries also in this convention.

I have heard that the level of Jodo of European countries going up not only in a technical side but also in a mental way.

I hope that the many competitors will focus not only on the results of their matches but on performing to their optimum.

I sincerely hope that all the players and officers, who participate from European countries, will have more friendships deepened.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to the members of the Belgium Kendo Federation, and to all the people concerned of the European Kendo Federation, who have been involved in preparing and conducting this event.

Dear friends,

It’s the 2d time that Belgium will host the European Jodo championship.In our names I thank them very much.

I am particularly well place to know that due to technical reason, the closing down of the cafeteria, the organization is harder than last year.

But never the less, the spirit of friendship we are coming with will overcome this difficulty and made this meeting the top point of our Jodo practice.

Looking back to the past, we can see an encouraging progression, from the time the Jodo championship was the little brother of the Iaïdo one, until now.

This is due to devotement of the sensei all over Europe helped by the ZNKR.

If today the Jodoka are not yet too numerous, they live an exceptional moment that just the pioneers can live.

I am sure that you will appreciate this unique moment giving an opportunity of real friendship.

We all really hope that this event will find a great success and help for the future development of Jodo in Europe. Many thanks to the European Kendo Federation and All Japan Kendo Federation for their commitment in this organization We would like to thank and congratulate all those who have helped in the organization. Especially all the Kendo and Iaido members of our Federation who help their Jodo brothers!
