1. Maintenance principles

8 The "new EPC" | CEESCA | 19 March 2015

• The SEPA Cards Standardisation Volume ("Volume") is owned by the EPC

• The maintenance of the Volume has been delegated to the Cards Stakeholders Group

• The Volume is composed of a set of Books

• The full set of Books is reviewed in a new version of the Volume every 3 years

• The public consultation for a new version of the SCS Volume (full set of Books) is

organised over 3 months

• Individual Books can be reviewed in the meantime, either for legal alignment, or for

urgency

• The public consultation for a new version of an individual Book is organised over 1

month

• No consultation is organised for alignment either with regulatory texts or with new

worldwide standards

2. Conformance with SCS Volume

9 The "new EPC" | CEESCA | 19 March 2015

Principles • Each stakeholder in the Card and Terminal domain remains free to decide whether it will become

conformant with the Volume

• It is assumed that the Members and the Associate Members of the CSG who contributed in

defining the Volume requirements will implement the ones that are relevant for their type of

activity

• The ERPB is inviting the CSG to monitor the conformance of the Market with the Volume

• Any stakeholder who decided to implement the Volume requirements cannot claim for "Volume

conformance" without having implemented all the requirements relevant for its activity

• The assessment of the way a stakeholder implements the Volume requirements is a self-

assessment process

• Self-assessments when provided to the CSG Secretariat should be published on the CSG public

website

• As a general principle, the requirements published in the Volume become mandatory for

stakeholders wishing to become Volume conformant, three years after CSG releasing a

publication. For some requirements, different deadlines can be set

3. Conformance with SCS Volume

10 The "new EPC" | CEESCA | 19 March 2015

Major current deadlines

• Volume v7.0

• Was published in Q1 2014 as a stable version ready for implementation and

investments

• Is to be implemented for 1 January 2017

• The individual Books that are currently reviewed (Book 1, 2, 3 + annex, 4, 6 and new

Book 7)

• Will be known for ease as Volume v7.1 (after an interim version 7.05 being

submitted to consultation)

• Is expected to be published in Q4 2015

• Is expected to be implemented for 1 January 2019

Clarification on contactless payments

12 The "new EPC" | CEESCA | 19 March 2015

• No new requirements for Face-to-Face payments as defined in Volume v7.0 were

added, but …

• In order to adopt a terminology consistent with Remote Payments, Face-To-Face

transactions have been segregated into 3 types of transactions in Book 2 (Functional

requirements) of Volume v7.05 :

• With contact

• Chip and Mobile contactless (6 requirements out of which 4 refer to EMV)

• Additionally a new illustrative context has been created in Book 6 (Implementation

guidelines) on "Contactless Payment with no Cardholder Verification Method required

in an attended and unattended environment, cardholder is present and final amount is

know"

for consultation is called version 7.05

• The public consultation of Volume v7.05 lasts from 10 March 2015 till 5 June 2015.

• Volume v7.05 includes the requirements for Remote Payments, the Pre-Authorisation

requirements and new contexts; but this version is not yet aligned with legislative/

regulatory texts expected to be officially adopted in 2015

• Comments are expected to focus on the newly introduced aspects; comments on

» Volume v7.05 aspects (Remote requirements, Pre-Authorisation and new

contexts) will be analysed in the scope of the preparation of Volume v7.1

» Volume v7.0 aspects (Face-To-Face requirements) will be analysed in the scope
