β-Agonists are illegally used in cattle breeding for growth promotion. Several EuroProxima tests are

available for the detection of illegal use of these drugs.

The multi-analyte tests are fast, sensitive and allow testing of various matrices such as liver, bile, plasma

and retina. Specific tests are also available for clenbuterol and ractopamine detection.

Malachite green and crystal violet are used worldwide for the treatment of external fungal infections,

especially in aquaculture. Due to their toxic effects these substances are not authorised to be used in

fish for human consumption.

The Malachite Green Total ELISA kit is validated for the detection of both substances including their

metabolised forms (leucomalachite green and leucocrystal violet) in fish and shrimps. The test is also

applicable for fatty fish analysis.

Anthelmintics are a group of drugs used to treat

infections with parasitic worms. Ivermectin is a

broad-spectrum anthelmintic veterinary drug

used in cattle. Moxidectin is used for the

prevention of heartworm. The Ivermectin ELISA is

validated for a number of matrices, including

corned beef, which is an important product on

the global food market.

Anabolic steroids mimic the effects of the

male steroid hormone testosterone. They

cause increase in build-up of cellular tissue

(anabolism) in cattle breeding.

Corticosteroids are responsible for more water

retention in muscle of cattle, leading to an

increased meat yield.

Several EuroProxima ELISA tests are available

for the screening for the presence of these

hormones in animal tissues and urine.

Antibiotics are a broad range of compounds with different chemical structures and biological activity.

EuroProxima antibiotic tests are available for testing for the presence of a wide range of groups of

antibiotics which can be illegally used in agriculture. There is a vast choice of both multi-analyte and

specific ELISAs. At R-Biopharm Nederland B.V. we continue to develop new tests for antibiotics and

adapt existing products to meet market and regulatory demands.

Marine toxins are produced by certain species of algae and bacteria under favorable

environmental conditions. The toxins can accumulate in filter feeders such as clams, cockles,

mussels, oysters and crustaceans.

One of the marine toxins, tetrodotoxin, is also known to accumulate in pufferfish, a Japanese

delicacy called fugu. The consumption of contaminated fish and shellfish can lead to severe

illness or even death.

Mycotoxins are fungal metabolites which have toxic and carcinogenic effects in humans and animals.

The occurrence of mycotoxins in agricultural commodities is a worldwide threat to food and feed

safety. R-biopharm Nederland offers two testing platforms for mycotoxins detection.

The ELISA tests can be performed in laboratories. They are highly sensitive down to ng/kg (ppt, parts

per trillion) levels and allow for quantification of mycotoxins in a variety of food matrices.

The Flow-Through Rapid Tests (FTRT) are simple cartridge-based devices which can be used on-site

for fast detection of mycotoxin presence above the specified limit.

The Gluten-Tec® ELISA is a competitive enzyme

immunoassay which detects a well characterised

T-cell stimulatory epitope, DQ2.5-glia α3 Gliadin, in

wheat, barley, rye and their crossbred varieties.

This epitope plays a dominant role in the triggering

of celiac disease. The antibody used in this test

detects both native gliadin and its fragments and

is therefore suitable for the detection

recognised worldwide and therefore the use of this endocrine disruptor is more and more regulated

by national and international legislation. The BPA ELISA test is validated for the screening of milk

and water. The test combined with an additional sample preparation method can also be used to

detect BPA residues released from plastic packages in surface water.

EuroProxima portfolio includes several tests for the

detection of cow’s milk and cow’s milk products in

milk and milk products from other species such as

goat and sheep. The ELISA tests are based on the

detection of a specific part of cow’s kappa-casein

protein. The tests can be used for analysis of both

non-heat treated and heat-treated products.

Bovine lactoferrin is a milk protein with many

health benefits. This ingredient can be added to

foods and food supplements to increase their

nutritional value. The Lactoferrin ELISA is

developed to measure the concentration of

lactoferrin added to food. The Lactoferrin Fast

ELISA is specifically validated for the

quantification of lactoferrin in infant milk powder.
