In What Ways Does Your Media Product Use, Develop Or Challenge Forms And Conventions Of Real Media Products?

Page 2: Evaluation 1

A shot showing link between lyrics and/or music and visuals

• Brian eats a bowl of alphabet spaghetti, when Brain starts eating them the guitar starts to play which shows that things are about to go downhill as he destroyed formality.

• In Miley Cyrus’ “we cant stop” they is a shot of a person having twerk on a spoon which shows the same rebellion in their video that we intended for ours

A shot that typifies the way a record company would want their artist to be represented• In our music video there is a foreboding

shot of Brian dressed differently from his normal attire, in this shot we can see him smoking something and it is quick enough that we don’t have enough information about the character

• In the Arctic Monkey’s song “Why’d you only call me when you’re high” there is a character who appears to speak to the main character in a brief scene, we wanted that type of worry the audience feels in the arctic monkey’s music video to be in ours.

A shot that illustrates how your video uses music genre

• In our music video when Brian is almost at his most hectic, he breaks a bottle to symbolise his full decent into anger/madness, this happens as the music gets louder to emphasise this more

• In the Foal’s song Inhaler there is a scene where people are firing Roman Rockets at each other, we wanted this same sense of anarchy as this also happens at a tense moment in their song.

A shot that shows an intertextual reference

• In this particular scene we took inspiration directly from the official Brianstorm music video, this shows a brief shot of a character to give us some extra depth into what Brian may look like, using this inspiration we took a shot of our Brian and showed him very briefly in what we will start to accept is his normal attire and attitude on a night out.

A shot demonstrating a use of Camera

• In our music video when Brian takes drugs the camera starts to just follow him and not concentrate on anything else but him and his own actions

• In the Arctic Monkey’s song “R U Mine” they completely concentrate on the people involved and on not much at all, we used this as an example because we believe it is a good demonstration of camera use.

A shot that demonstrates a use of lighting

• In this moment we see that this are starting to be a bit dazzling with the upped contrast and car lights, we wanted to get this effect, but had no budget so we instead used what we could find to compliment the music

• In Ellie Goulding’s song “Burn” we see a scene where many lights come on in the distance giving the same dazzled effect that we were trying to achieve.

A shot demonstrating a use of mise-en-scene

• In our music video we rarely see Brian in good lighting showing his attire and attitude, we filmed this shot in good light so you could see exactly what is happening, we see the exchange between two people and it is very important to see the mouthing of one person.

• In Metronomy's Music video “Love letters” the video focusses mostly on the art that surrounds them, and it is rare to see them in a head on way like you do in most conventional music videos

Two shots that show you have watched other music video’s (part 1)

• In the beastie boys music video for “shake your rump” they used a fish eye lense, we decided to use it also as it makes the video seem unrealistic somehow, which we used when Brian was on drugs as it added the unrealistic feeling to it.

Two shots that show you have watched other music video’s (part 2)

• In Brianstorm we wanted to convey a feeling of travelling after a doing a bad thing, returning to norm, or possibly running from it. In Cloud Control’s “Promises” we see a man who has done something bad and is running from the repercussions.
